[rel] Mailcheck For Mm Docklet

MailCheck Theme for MM Docklet

First try

Heya all,

I have been playing with herds MM Docklet and this is what I came up with:

a MailChecker script for the MultiMeter docklet.

Screenie

mm_check.jpg

Requirements

Object Dock, Y'zDock or AveDesk with herds MultiMeter Docklet Beta 2.

Installation

1) unzip the file into your MM-Themese folder.

2) run install_mailcheck.cmd

3) open MailCheck.vbs with an editor of choice and edit the following

server = "yourserver"
username = "yourusername"
password = "yourpassword"

replace yourserver with the address of your POP3-server, e.g. pop.hccnet.nl

replace yourusername with your username for that server

replace yourpassword with your password for that server.

4) Add the docklet to your Dock/Desk and select the MailCheck theme. Apply and you are ready to go.

Notes

The theme checks your mail every 2 minutes. You can click it to instantly check your e-mail.

Wow - keep 'em coming.

Wow - keep 'em coming.

Sure :D

Found some bugs btw:

when using a splitimage the docklet is not updated after the initialize-sub.

Also, when changing images in the Docklet_MouseAction()-function, images will not update 'till the first Docklet_Tick. I might also be doing something wrong :P

#145770

I know.

Interestingly, I call Docklet_Tick() after Docklet_Initialize(), but the change does not render. (e.g. BatteryMeter Theme needs tick time too, to show up)

SwitchSplitter() already increases render count giving the same problem.

Reason is that the host only updates in tick intervals and the script only increases a "render needed count" for optimized rendering. Beta 3 will have the multimeter force all three hosts for a redraw as soon as the render count changes.

It's sup-erb! My goat loves it! Thanks for your hard work Ave (especially on images :P)

#145811

any ways to make it check multiple mail-accounts?

keep it up ave, thank u. :)

especially on images

Where's the goat-smiley when you need it? :P

any ways to make it check multiple mail-accounts?

I'll think that would make MM terminate the script, because it would probably take more than five seconds.

and what's the advantage of using this script in staof of another??? i mean does it take less resources? is it more stable or anything else??? :)

Thank you Herd and Ave for this powerfull script :)

It's easier for users to customize :canadian:

Is this still under development? just wondering if we could hope for SSL support and a way to configure the host port in a future version... ;)

i'm having a problem with the bg image. if i don't touch mailcheck.ini at all, i get no image. if, however, i modify mailcheck.ini to point to mail.png, i get this:

mailcheck.jpg

i know it should only be one or the other, but they're combined into one png. so, could someone please advise.

btw, if it makes a difference: i'm running this on the desktop, not as a docklet. oh and i'm on avedesk 1.2.

thx!

With AveDesk 1.2 closed beta and MM 0.4 closed beta it only freezes my screen.

I won't recommend using it at all.

Please wait for 1.2 & 0.4 going public - I hope to release MM together with AD.

#229637

The background image is actually two images combined together. The MM should split them by itself. Wondering why it didn't split it..

SSL support: I need to check if I still have the source of the component used...
