I installed Norton 2003 Professional the other day, but soon realized that it was not getting along with OE. I tried sending emails to my hotmail account, and while OE says they've been sent and they appear in th "sent" folder, I haven't received them in my hotmail inbox. I tried doing this with a few friends, and they can't seem to receive emails from my OE either. One of the entries in the .readme file for Norton 2003 specifically mentioned this combination may lead to slow message sending times. The MS Knowledge Database entry was outdated and I searched through MS's site anyway. Their solution was to disable the email virus scan, which I did, to no effect.
I uninstalled Norton, but I'm still having troubles. Still can't send email properly, and I still have the "unerase" wizard in the right click menu for my recycle bin. I opened up regedit and found a few keys with Norton in it. I've never really had to go through my registry before. Is it safe for me to just go through and erase all the keys with any mention of "Norton" or "Symantec" in them?
Would it be easier to do this with a 3rd party program?
