I haven't used Fireworks, but look for something along the lines of Bevel, specifically, Inside Bevel and tweak with the properties.

hmmmph, that would take like 5 minutes in Photoshop...

To me it looks like this...first fill the background with that color and make a new layer etc....regular photoshop stuff, reset your swatches blah blah blah....

1) Get that font and type METALLURGY using it...use a white color for the text

2) Duplicate the layer...

3) On the new layer load a selection (select the text) and fill it vertically using a linear gradient going from black to grey.

4) Shift the previous layer a couple of pixels down so it gives it that white kinda shadow thingy under the text...

Can't try it right now coz I'm at work but that should bring satisfactory results methinks....:)

It fits iLife, not only wallpapers ;)

1) set the background color to the one you want

2) use the text tool with the apropiate font

3)right click on text - convert to paths

4) modify > combine paths > join, so we can work with all the text as one object

5)set a fill option of linear to get the gentle white to black gradient on the text.

6) add a nice smoothe white drop shadow

happy to see another fireworks user, dont let thoes photoshop people cop you out of it, its way better then PS :6 :6

ive included the fireworks PNG at the bottom, grantid it may need some tweaking and the right font/font size, but it looks nice imho

IMO it doesn't look like a drop shadow... then again I could be wrong because the monitor on this PC at work is a POS. :6 ;)

btw which font is that lostspyder?

EDIT: Nevermind....it's Chicago not Tahoma Bold as I thought it was

Thanks wizard

Here's what I managed....It's a PSD, so you can see the layers needed to achieve the effect...:)
