[Help] Saving Image Problem With Firefox

http://www.stylesuites.com/simon/imgerror.jpg (sorry for the rubbish quality)

OK, whenever I right click on an image and select "save image as.." this the message I keep getting. Once I've selected "save image as." the window pops up and asks me where I want to save. I click Save and the image downloads fine. But once it's finished it pops up this error message, but the URL changes depending on where I'm saving it from. So I know this is not restricted to a specific website. I've tried putting it in the popup allow list, and I've disabled all extensions. Note: I have the lastest nightly build, but I'm not sure if this has anything to with it - this problem has never happened with any previous build/milestone versions of FireFox.

Anyway, does anyone know how I could stop this appearing - it's really starting to annoy me. Any help is appreciated :)

weird. i say do a Whole revamp. I would say Partition your hd & do a clean install. Haaa jp. well that is a weird problem, i've never encountered that in firefox. Maybe el virus or la trojan? i dunno, maybe something got moved, i would say just uninstall it and install.

Its very possible that it has to do with the fact that its a nightly build, because a nightly build isn’t really sent through any bug testing, its just compiled from that nights code changes. Mabie they are working on a new system to save images or something and unknown to them it’s incompatible with the download manager or something.

Anyhow try and download a new version of firefox (100% clean version that is) and see if it still does it, if it doesn’t it’s the nightly. Reformatting is totally uncalled for; it’s like using a nuclear weapon for squirrel hunting.

Simon,

Yes, this is a confirmed bug #240367 that has been filed, and has just recently occured with the official nightlies from 20040411 & 20040412 builds...

For more info here is a link @Mozillazine:

Save Imagine Bug Link

You will see it listed in red as 'Regressions' #9, where Peter(6) does such a great, informative job with this daily must read thread...One member reported to having as many as 6 various 'error pop-up' when trying to Save an imagine, and the darn image is saved anyway...

Simon, you've been around enough to know this... Please tag your threads properly.

Added a [Help] Tag to the title ;)

@Seph - sorry, thanks for correcting me ;)

@gahbmwM5. Thanks for the info and link. I've only just installed this nightly, and I've spent ages installing extensions and configuring everything. Now that I know it's a problem within the program I think the only thing I can do is put up with it, wait a few days and try a new nightly. Is there any way to find out whether this specific bug has been fixed? (Sorry, MozillaZine and the Mozilla.org bug-tracker are not websites I frequent often, so I have little idea how they work >.< )

Sure, no problem as I completely understand, as of the latest 20040413 nightly, it has 'not' been rectified yet...

Because of this very annoying 'regression/bug' within the latest nightlies, I have gone back to 20040409 (djeter-optimized build for P3) and all is fine...

So when I see that this #240367 bug has been checked in as 'fixed' I will let you know which nightly it is via a PM...There have been a decent amount of 'votes' (30) for it to be fixed so now it is in the hands of the Moz/Firefox Devs...

This bug #240367 has been assigned to Ben Goodger, the head Firefox Dev, and has been upgraded with a Severity: Major rating...

Apparently, it is not OS specific as WinXP, ME, and Linux users are effected, and is a 'side effect' of another Dev's checkin...

I have complete faith in the Moz team. Thanks gahbmwM5 - you've been really helpful :)
