[Request]Good Looking Desktops For Cinema Displays

I am buying a 23" Cinema Display tomorrow and want to make sure it looks as sexy as it can....I have a 17" power book with many deskto pics that are sized just right for it. I am having a hard time finding good quality desktop pics at a high enough resolution to fit the 23" ACD without stretching the picture out.

I have seen the posts with those 7 famous apple made desktops. It seems that the original people hosting them no longer are. If anyone has those orignal seven (the set including "alpine") and would be willing to send them to me, it would be much appreciated.

What resolution are you looking for? cause, even on a 23'' ACD you can put 1024 x 768 desktops...

That is understood. However, I am looking to put images that have a high enough resolution to fill the entire screeen without stretching it. I believe the 23 runs at 1920 by 1600....so I would need those resolution pictures to accomplish that.

The 23" Cinema Display runs at 1920*1200...

1900*1600 would make it something like 19:16 resolution, as opposed to the quoted 16:10...

Not only that, but it'd make it a high pixel-density monitor, meaning that it wouldn't be suitable for use on Windows or Mac OS, without modifications, or a very strong magnifying glass :canadian:

I totally empathize with you there. My laptop runs 1920x1200 and most wallpapers below 1280x768 look like crap when resized. You simply can't make a stubby rectangle and stretch it to fit a widescreen desktop.

Anyway, I'm seeding a torrent with the Cinema HD Display wallpapers that were ported by jevoe015. The rar file also includes the 20 inch Display wallpaper called Valley or something (maybe that's the "Alpine" you're referring to?)

I'm using a torrent because I'm sure as heck not going to kill my bandwidth by putting this file up. I remember how much trouble there was finding hosts for such a large file.

I highly suggest using BitComet to download this. It's the only client I know of that is coded in C++. All the others are Python (like the original BT client). Also has a single-window interface and it's much more user-friendly.

when pics dont fit on my 1600x1200 desktop, i typicaly resize them in photoshop and the crop them to fit the screen. You get a much crisper picture and no strechies.

Yeah but cropping only works if the picture is larger than your desktop...

For me, there's no way I can Photoshop a 1024x768 image to fit 1920x1200. (Not talking about just adding some black/white/solid color border around the image).

I do do resizes in Photoshop, but that only works for a very few wallpapers that still look ok when made widescreen.

And in my opinion even better, you could resize it with S-pline instead of Pshop and keep the quality intact and then crop it with Pshop.
