[Help] Makin' Some Icons

I wanna learn how to make icons, and I would like to know the best way to go about doing it. I already have Photoshop (I'm assuming I'll use it at some point for icon making), but what other programs should I get? And where can I find some good tutorials on how to make that glass/aqua like look? I've found some, but they don't seem to be the best tutorials. Can anyone help? Thanks.

I personally use fireworks for icons; I find its vector capabilities perfect for icon making. Learn how to do effects like the gloss effect and such. After that just start making, you can’t learn how to be imaginative.

Thanks guys. I got Axialis Iconworkshop, and I totally forgot all about the Adobe Studio Exchange site. I'm gonna enjoy trying some of the stuff there.
