Stay Away From Sprintserve.net

Hi there.

A word of advice for all those people who are looking for a hosting service: stay away from SpintServe.net. Why? Because they are total and complete amateurs. Why are they amateurs?

I can't reach http://forums.miranda-im.org without a proxy since I have an IP from the 83.0.0.0/11 range. As you probabaly know, this range has been removed from the IANA bogon list in late 2003. SprintServe still blocks it on their routers/firewalls. I sent them email regarding this issue, but I've received no reply. No, I wasn't mean or impolite at all. Got pissed, sent them another mail, still no reply. I've posted on their forums, gave them a traceroute and all they did was deleting my post and locking my account. If that's what is called some professional hosting, God save us from such a professionals. It's almost half a year since 83.0.0.0/11 range are valid, and they don't even pretend they care. That's pathetic. And it looks like they do not tolerate criticism on their forums, all I have found there are "OMG you're soooo great!!!" and "you're the best hosting company ever!!!" praises. Like hell they are.

Cheers.

I don't know about their hosting services but one look at the website shouts 'AMATEUR' to me....

http://www.sprintserve.net/

Seriously is that a website for a professional hosting company? Looks completely gay if you ask me.

Well, I don't actually care about their webdesign style (okay, let's call it a style). They could even have a plain-text homepage, or a full-flash-clang-and-blink circus, if only they had the right attitude and if they did their job right. They don't, but it shouldn't be so strange, since in the modern times every guy with a Windows XP machine may call himself "an admin". And that's the problem I see.

Ah, they replied after I flamed them on the forums.miranda-im.org. And they replied this way:

Your reply has been deleted as you are just as rude as you are here. On top of that, that thread is for client's testimonials. You certainly aren't a client. We never received a single cent from you. You have the honour of being the first thread we ever deleted.

Your email was also not given a reply because you had been abusive and rude on the email, just like this post, or the post on our forum.

You first emailed on the 7th April, and we promptly have a discussion with our data center as we did not block that range, and is checking if they did. They didn't either. This means that it is probably the upstream (Level 3 I believe). Due to the many layers, it takes time to reach a resolution. It is just days, and certainly not half a year as you had claim. On the 10th, you started abusing our staff. That's when we permanantly disregard your emails, or posts.

As for whether we sucks, Miranda-IM has been hosted with us for many months. They know best whether we are ever down, or whether the speed is fast etc. I haven't heard any bad comments from them, or from the many others we host for a fee.

Have a good day.

Then the topic has been locked. That means two things: first, they do not read what's being written. I stated loud and clear, that the 83.0.0.0/11 issue is known for almost half a year, not my mails to them reach late 2003. Second, here's my first mail addressed to the SprintServe:

Hi guys,

There's a problem in reaching a site hosted by you

(http://forums.miranda-im.org) since I got the IP from the 83.28.*

range. This range has been removed from the IANA's bogon list in

November last year and currently is a valid, Internet routable  address.

Would you mind unblocking it on your side please?

Regards

Yes, it's so abusive and rude I can't even think about it without shivers. And now it's no mystery they didn't even bother to reply to such a rude and abusive mail. Well, I guess it does not need any further comments.

I agree the first email doesn't seem abusive, but then by flaming on their boards you can't have helped your chances of getting a positive response out of them...

If they take a long time, email them and politely ask what they are doing, or if there has been any resolution to your problem. The problem with these things is that unfortunately they have paying clients to look after, and someone who they have no vested interest in is likely to get forgotten about somewhat...

Just my $0.02...

o0o The DEEJ o0o,

You're right. But I'm not kind of person who's particularily fond of being ignored, I might have reacted in a much too harsh way, I admit. But it does not matter anyway. I informed my ISP, and after their intervention now SprintServe works without a proxy.

Cheers.

huh... funny, that! Oh well, at least you got a result in the end!

Sid:

Our webdesign was done with a few considerations:

1. We wanted to be unique

2. We do not want a template style site

3. We certainly do not want to put a stock photo of a server or a smiling customer service officer with a headset

As for the thread starter:

We do not wish to get into an argument. Bottomline is:

1. We are certainly no amateurs. We have been around since 2002. Whoever says we are have not used our services and is in no position to judge us.

2. You are no client and that's a fact. Your post was deleted because you are not a client. And your post on our forum was rude. It was basically the same post you have here. Your post was also the only post we ever deleted in the history of our company.

3. You had been rude to us. We have the email and to quote a few words, it includes: "lamers", "pathetic" etc.

4. We have dealt with the problem promptly and it is solved within a week. It wasn't because your telecom intervened. But right from the first mail, we have discussions with the data centers, and the upstream, as well as Polish Telecom and we finally resolved it among the various parties.

5. We didn't close the thread in Miranda Forums. We aren't even a mod there. The mods there feel that the thread is baseless, and some mods there have made their views known about their experience with us. For those who are interested, you can visit the forum and can see that the mods there being quite happy with our services.

6. The block was only allocated very recently and the earlier record we have on this issue is end of last month, and the first email we received on the issue is at the beginning of April. As noted, we have since worked out the source of the problem within the few of us.

In short, there's always two sides of the story. Whether you wish to believe someone who never used our services, is plain acrylic in his communications with us (his post here is an example), and exaggerated days to months is up to you. This are the facts from our side of the fence. Thank you for reading.

Well, take a look at your site one more time, it looks like ****, if you want customers, u must have a pro looking site, with smiling ppl, and no cartoon, childish look, I can make a better webpage then that in 2sec. think of a webdesign as the new century store "Apartment" (is that the right word?), ppl dont go into toystores to buy themselfe a new kitchen, u got to understand that....
