[help] Taskbar
Hold CTRL, ALT & DELETE.
Kill explorer.exe.
Click file, run, then type explorer.exe
This should kill and relaunch explorer, thus reviving your taskbar
or, if you are not using fast user switching, you can press CTRL + SHIFT + ESC to get to the task manager
The icons on the top right corner of the taskbar are still missing

or place a shortcut to systray (X:\Windows\system32\systray.exe) in the common startup folder (X:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup)
reboot...

CTRL+SHIFT+ESC works if you are using fast user switching.
did someone call for me?
anyway, you need to tell us more about your situation. did this just happen? what were you doing? have you tried a system restore?
i found a good solution to my own problem here: http://www.aqua-soft.org/board/index.php?showtopic=14264
here's what you should try:
-disable upnp and ssdp services by going to run > services.msc. that usually solves most people's problems with missing systray icons.
-the regtweaks didn't really work for me, but you can still try them. let me know if you're interested.
-as suggested, add a shortcut to systray.exe to the common startup folder. it's actually a holdover from 9x, and xp doesn't really need it, but it's worth a shot. in my case, it didn't help all that much.
-finally, as a last resort, you need to work with your startup items and services. sometimes removing some startup items can give your icons a chance to load. also, sometimes setting some services to auto can give you icons more time to load (i set the ones that were starting anyway to auto).
good luck! ![]()
