Ah ha! Go and find the default shell32.dll file (I think thats the one) and replace it. That may be the problem!

With the one in your C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache\ folder

If that doent work then I don't know what you could do.

Did you try calling Dell The pc is pretty new. I mean they must help you.

Format?

this is usually a XP Pro (updated to SP1) problem.

I formatted, and put XP Pro SP1 Integrated, and those problems have disappeared.

You can always do an XP repair installation if you have the XP cd. It'll replace your system files with fresh ones, but you won't have to lose any of your settings, programs, registry settings, etc.

I am gonna try this option. cos i really hate to reformat and lose everything :(

and i f I call dell they gonna have me do things that might worsen my case( speaking from experience). I trust people in this forum to be more knowledgeable than those in dell and for that I say Aqua-soft rocks... ;)

try using sfc: http://www.updatexp.com/scannow-sfc.html

or do a repair installation. note that afterwards, you will need to reinstall drivers. i always found repairs clunky and inefficient, but it's a lifesaver if you need to retrieve data to backup.
