i don't want any fancy iTunes screen thing, just a desktop replacement.

same background i have, just icons in the upper left with labells that can be coloured.

samurize is not a desktop replacement... it basically provides widgets that can offer data about various things... go to samurize.com and browse around their download area to see what you can get out of the program... e.g. are internal data like cpu temp, hard drive space free/used... internet retrieval like news, weather, tv listings...

so this is not the thing to do for the coloured icons like on mac os x?

cos that's really all i want.

that and when you drag the mouse over the desktop, it makes a translucent white like OSX, instead of a square with dotted lines.

I think it might be a better bet to wait for AveDesk v1.1

And BTW, don't post thread after thread. Use the edit button. We'd all prefer this practice. ;)

It's generally frowned upon to double post as opposed to editing (see above post).

Double (or triple, etc.) posting is when you post two or more times in a row, when no one else has posted.

For example:

what do i do first?

all i want to do is make it look like the desktop on mac os x 'panther' with the re release of the coloured labells.

...is not, in most cases, a good idea. Think of this as some friendly help - it'll probably save you some hassle down the line or help to avoid a flame war.

you can use avedesk to get those icons.

or if you want to use samurize, use some image files (e.g. png file) for the desktop icon and that's it.
