h3o is speaking geek called Hydronium and it is a positively-charged ion that forms from water in the presence of hydrogen ions. The formula for hydronium is H3O+.

That's absolutely correct. Ya beat me to it, milo We're doing acid-base reactions in AP Chemistry, so I got all excited when I knew what was going on In case anyone cares, H30 is often replaced by simply H+ in an acid-base reaction, since the Hyrdronium ion and the Hydrogen ion go hand-in-hand. I didn't know about the deuterium thing, that's pretty neat. I thought it was just something they made up on Star Trek or something
