[help] Theme Creation Scrollbar Problems

Is there a specific filetype/colordepth that needs to be used for the scrollbar of a theme in stylebuilder? I've tried using both .png and .bmp (with and without transparancy, RGB and Indexed color) but every time I try to apply the compiled theme I am not able to. I've seen a lot of leniency on most of the images used in the themes, whether you use .png or .bmp sometimes doesn't matter, but the theme will apply with the original scrollbar image but not with mine.

To explain a little better, I am using Kol's TiSkin port as a base to port the [fear]platinum theme I have asked for here, and using the files from the mac theme I've created the scrollbar images in both .png and .bmp formats, but applying either of them in the theme renders it useless. The original scrollbars will work fine tho.

If anyone could help I would really appreciate it, I just started learning how to do this and now realizing how tedious it is I have much more respect for themers! How BubbaByte can bang 2 or 3 themes out in a weekend is beyond my comprehension!!

in all the themes i modded with reshacker/resbuilder, the scrollbars have been bmps. i think i used 24-bit bitmaps.

what are you trying to do? i've always done it this way:

1. extract the scrollbar and save it somewhere.

2. edit the image in photoshop, and save.

3. replace the image in msstyles file again, then apply.

never had a problem.

Nope, that didn't work either, I don't get it!!

I've even tried creating a new image in photoshop and copy and paste the images from the original .tif files, then save as .bmp 24 bit. Only the scrollbar is giving me the problem, it doesn't make sense.

UGGGHHH!!! Solved my own problem, and learned another lesson: NO SPACES IN IMAGE FILENAMES!!

glad you figured it out but it's still weird. i've had long filenames with spaces and never had a problem.

but at least it works. ^_^
