[link] Geoshell
played with it like 5 years ago when it first came out... it was ok.
i've played with it before, but i didn't like it much. it's not as flexible as litestep or blackbox, but it's a good introduction to replacement shells.
It is buggy. Crashes on me all the time. Stick with bblean, blackbox or explorer.
I think all shell replacements are kind of a waste of time personally. Stick with explorer, even though it isnt that stable its probably better than Geoshell. It would be really cool if someone could create a shell that replaced explorer, looked like OSX and had a real finder. That would be something I would use....too bad it will never happen.
wasn't some team working on a mac-ish shell replacement called six or something?
anyway, i've tried a lot of replacements: litestep, geoshell, blackbox, sharpe, carbon, but i keep coming back to explorer. it's simple and easy to use, stable (on xp), and works perfectly fine. plus, i still haven't finished modding every aspect of explorer yet.
replacement shells can be fun and productive, though. you just need to find one that you like.
Yep, I'm using bbLean right and loving it!
I finally have window-shading without using a slow program.
I used geOShell for the longest time and I was incredibly happy with it. the only thing that made me dump it was that there was a leak with the systray plugin, and the mem usage would soar to about 20mb. I know that is not horrible, but I didn't like it so I trashed it. I went and tried SharpE and that was equally good, if not better, but YzDock would not work well with it. I am currently using explorer, waiting for PB5 of SharpE to be released.
PS- I have tried LiteStep, bbLean, and a few others and I did not like them as much as geoshell or sharpe
I'm a Geoshell User, And it works fine for me. It's cool and you can make it look as you want, works good with Y's dock. but if you got questions of his flexibility go to http://www.geoshell.com/users/desktops.asp
Here you an find users desktops. ![]()
well I used to use it before I upgraded my OS to windowsXP. it's alot better than the default shells of windows up to windows 2000, but I just fell in love with the XP start panel the very first time I saw it, so theres no way of getting me into replacement shells again ...
