Opera Problems

Well I downloaded Opera 7 Beta 2 today and am having an interesting problem. When I run Opera with any normal theme the dialog box that comes up asking you whether you want to start with no windows or the homepage window displays no text as well as the buttons. I clicked one of the buttons to then proceed into Opera and there is no text on anything. No text where it should say "File, Edit, View, Etc." or in the bookmarks list or anything else. I then switched the theme to Windows Classic and it showed up. It hasn't worked so far with the default Windows XP skin or any of Iceman's skins. Has anyone else had this problem?

Opera 6.05 runs with no problems with themes but doesn't have the one button skinning so that's why I want to use 7 Beta 2.

Thanks in advance

Yeah I encountered that problem before in one of the opera skin I downloaded.

Just change the skin to something else :)

I 'm using Iceman visual style and it works fine!

Yeah that didn't help at all. Every theme I try it does the same thing. It shows no text anywhere within Opera. I hadn't been to Windows Update since I reformatted today so I figured maybe there was a file that needed to be updated. So after I updated everything and restarted, well, still had the problem.

On an interesting side note, after I updated my computer, some of the system files that I had replaced with Icemans files had been re-replaced with new ones containing Windows XP icons. So I gotta replace those now too. Oh well, lol.

Anyway, if anyone knows of a solution let me know.

Thanks.

yes, i too encountered the same problem. But in my case the problem did not occur with the normal Xp Luna theme.

The problem with Icemans theme seems to be that Opera does not work with the Lucida Grande font for the menu and title box etc set in the Iceman's theme.

so a workaround is to go to

Display Properties >> Appearance >> Advanced and change the fonts for

menu

message box

tooltip

to tahoma 8 or whatever u like instead of Lucida Grande.

That fixes the problem but then the look of the theme doesn't remain as good as it is.

hope that helps..

if any other workarounds exist, kindly let me know.

thanks,

shashi.
