you can also use iconphile: http://www.virtualplastic.net/scrow/iphile.html

if you want them to be in shell32.dll, you need to reshack it. replace the icons in the dll file by using resource hacker: http://www.users.on.net/johnson/resourcehacker/

replace shell32.dll by using replacer: http://www3.telus.net/_/replacer/
