A Working Way Of Changing Icons Of Y'z Dock

Here is how I solved this problem :

1, Start StyleXP 2.0 , Choose "icons", Select "XP-iCandy" then "Apply icons ".

2,OK go to change the icons of Y'z Dock , It works now.

3,Start StyleXP 2.0 again to apply any icon set you want or just simply restore default . Some icons on my desktop did not restore ,such as My Computer and My documents .so I have to change the icons manually. Plz remember you will meet the problem of changing icons again when you set icons to default ,to solve that just go to step 1.

Y'z Dock crashed while changing icons due to StyleXP 2.0, maybe it's a bug of styleXP 2.0. I have never met this problem in versions earlier than 2.0

It works fine in my PC ,Hope it will work for u. ;)

 not quite sure ... but I dont think I understand what's going on here...

what's the prob, exactly? changing the Y'z Dock, the icon for the app itself? May ResHack do the trick? -_-

i think the problem was y'z dock crashing when trying to change the icons of the dock items. some users have also documented this problem, though, i personally have never experienced it.

instead of using stylexp, the uxtheme patch could be used (and maybe there would be no issue).

but thanks for the tip. i'm sure it'll help out some users who are experiencing similar problems! :)

Sorry for my poor English, The problem is exactly what DREAMZ had described , Some guys found their Y'z Dock crashed while changing the shortcut icons in Y'z Dock as I did. I have searched the forum but failed to find an ideal answer.

StyleXP2.0 is more convenient for ****ies as I , cause I can also change boot ,login screens with it rather than applying the themes and the way I see it, it takes a lot of time to Reshacker each icons, So I'd prefer StyleXP but I'd like to have a try of "uxtheme" ,thanks DREAMZ :woot:

here's a uxtheme patcher i posted over at neowin: http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?show...117160&hl=patch

it's for sp1. just run the patch, cancel the windows file protection warning, then reboot. that's it! :)

-_- my bad...

Now I fully understand it, and it IS also the problem many people asked me. I used to advice them to use .png instead of .ico (some helped but some didnt). now I can offer a better solution, thanks, Kimpo :P

or, i had the same problem, y'z dock would crash when i used the itunes docklet. you have to have the png or icon in the Icon folder. Yzdock --> Icons --> icon.... , you cant have Yzdock --> Icons --> Misc Icons --> icon...... but it was only for the itunes docklet that i experienced the crash, you can have subfolders on all other docklets i believe.

ahh, another tip. very nice, bunkka!

kimpo, if you need any help with the patch, just ask (though i'm guessing you already got it :)). it's so much better in my opinion. it does exactly what stylexp does, except it's free and doesn't waste cpu/ram resources.

#135296

yeah that's a pratical tip, bunkka!

to kimpo: since you're having a Simplified Chinese XP, I can help you with the uxtheme.dll in S-C edition (it has not much to do w/ the language though), I changed some tray icons in it (e.g hardware connnected/disconnected).--trying to be helpful here :P

I'm having the same issues. I have uninstalled StyleXP and used the uxtheme.dll patcher but still Y'z dock crashes when I try to change an icon. Even when I click the middle button on my mouse to open a folder as a menu it crashes. Anyone know what could be causing this?

I have found out one way. You need to edit the listitem.ini file for every icon you wish to change. Just rename the icon in the .ini file and replace the 1 with 0 (zero) for the long number. Anyone know what this number does?

Thanks
