[wip] Jetblack Mod

I don't have permission to release this, and may never... but I'm currently working on a more usable version of Jetblack. the original is so dark and due to limitations within StyleXP I'm creating a version that still retains the look but some elements are modified to make it more usable. I'm currently about 40% done. Here is a preview:

The only problem I'm still running into is button text colors. I can find no option to change it in stylebuilder. If anyone knows how let me know.

Opinions? Comments?

QUOTE

"So your a PC/Linux user who has ported an SS original?

I get so many emails from users of other operating systems letting me know that they have created their own ports of my work for their platforms it astounds me. I'll be very frank with you, the only community I am worried about is the Macintosh community; I create the OSX originals and strive for bug free, well thought and well executed GUI's. I do not endorse any particular port of my work for these other platforms. I do not attempt to regulate ports.

Port and distribute as you like while noting that the port is inspired by but unrelated to Swizcore Studio."

This comes directly from Kevin's Swizcore Studio site, as he seems very generous with allowing ports of his fantastic work(s) to other platforms...as long as they meet his above parameters...

P.S. My only suggestion would be you might want to consider making the black scrollbars (maybe thinner) to allow the white background that the scrollbars fit into to show up more...it might be a nice, elegant looking contrast...

An example of this type of scrollbar style would be both KoL's Tiskin, D'Blade's Metallurgy, and b0se's latest [wip]...Opus Smooth

looks realy good but the gradient on the buttons doesn`t look too smooth!

it would be great if you could port JetBlack AND release your own mod!

Anyway, let us know when ur done ;)

#133699

yea the buttons need work, but other than that its look very very sweet!

#133821

Ok I've been working on the buttons...

I decided to go completely original and started from scratch on them. :D

Now all I need is a way to change font/font color for active and inactive states.

#133906

Looks great (Y) but the buttons still don't look like the ones from Swiz's theme ;)

#133907

i love it, finaly, a black theme i might use!!!

I know they are different. I'll leave it up to someone else to do a pixelperfext conversion of the original. I'm just basically using Jetblack as a basis and creating a more less original VS with that idea in mind. Thing is, on the real MacOSX the buttons have a really sweet animated glowing effect to them, so instead of trying to emulate those buttons with a static image I'm creating some original buttons.

#133915

Looks great ! excellent work and good luck ! and I hope you will finish it soon

ok I'm about 70% done with the theme, I'm still having issues w/ button colors.... If anyone knows how to change it let me know.... I know it's possible because NEOS does it....

#134034

the theme looks great but, 1: Your background is very dark for jetblack & 2: why do you have janet jackson on your backgrounds list???

#134057

haha, I didn't even realize that was still there. I saved that picture to show a friend and I guess I didn't kill it yet.

Anyway, the background is intentionally dark. It's Jetblack afterall. ;)

#134064

lol, yea I guess. -_-

#134085

ok I've been searching through Stylebuilder for about 3 hours now and I FINALLY figured out how to change pushbutton text colors....

btw did I mention this is my first theme/first time using stylebuilder... :D

Now with that obsticle over I can now focus on the rest of the theme...phew

I will hopefully be able to release this theme within a day or so

#134154

Thanks for taking the initiative....

#134169

ok one last update before bed.

I'm at about 90% now.....

Here's a screenshot

#134220

holy $hit thats beautiful..

cant wait

:woot: <-- closest thing to a drool smiley

#134252

Ok so the VS is 90% and I also did AvaDesk Labels, Dock background, and Y'z Toolbar for Jetblack. There's already an Object Bar so now we just need a few more apps for a complete suite. :D

Other Skins needed:

Firefox:

If anyone feels like porting the beatiful Jetblack Safari skin to Firefox I'd love it.

Trillian:

Someone has to be working on this

And of coarse login, startup screens, system preferences, and icon package would be nice, etc.

Anyone up to the job?

Once I release my VS feel free to use the graphics within it to create the other skins, or feel free to edit it and make it better or what not. :D

#134516

im waiting as patiently as I can

now hurry up :D:D

thanks it looks awesome

push button text color can be changed. if u use white button text collor, be careful. In yahoo web mail and some others, u will get a white text on white button (since those yahoo webmail button cannot be skinned)

the only text so far i think cannot be changed the color is dialog text. it's always black
