Closed. Please see the wallpaper thread. If the author has proof that the design is in fact his, he should PM me.
On closer examination and a discussion with Jatin, it seems as though the icons are both original.
You'll notice the colors and lighting are completely different in Jatins, and he is able to provide very large versions of the logo. I don't think he could have ripped a very small version and turned it into that (unless someone can prove me wrong?).
No offense, but the idea isn't very original, so it does seem likely both people could have come up with it (and maybe Jatin took inspiration from KSO's version, but he did hand make it).
So no more discussion about this unless someone has concrete evidence that the icon is ripped.

the idea is not original ? WTF are you talking about? :rant:
you don't have to take the exact file (i.e. apple.gif or whatever) to ripp a work, you just have to COPY the idea, and is not like the Jatin's apple is similar.......... he did the same thing, I'm a macthink member and I was there when KSO did the logo for latin aqua, wich I think is very original and very well done..
By the way, he could take a small version and turned it into that, have you ever heard about photoshop?

Ah, no. If you didn't realize it, this whole site is copying Apple's designs. Most of the designers have created the icons by hand though, and we have no problems with that.
I doubt photshop could take a scratchy 80x80 picture and turn it into a perfect quality 1280x1024 version. (that looks better than KSOs version)
And yes, it's not that unique. I've seen Windows Flag/Apple mergings for YEARS. I have wallpapers dating back to 2001. Im not saying the logo isn't nice, but it's not like its impossible for two people to have this idea.
Jatin has shown me psds that look handmade. I don't see any problems.
You will have a hard time arguing IP on this site. We don't want people stealing work outright, but it's ok to be inspired.
I have to agree with contrasutra. I think both are great peices of work, and I appreciate both artist, but come on let's be real, that design is not original. People have been creating things like this forever.
Yeah, contra made the right descision here. If it is not using the exact artwork, and just copying it, its fine. Unless the original author has world copyright protection against his design, which im sure he doesnt because he is in fact infringing on apples copyright by using their logo.
If Jatin were said that "his" design is inspired in my design, I wasn't angry

you can use an image as a base, and do a new one above. as easy as that..

I've seen Windows Flag/Apple ..." yes, it very common to people came with th same idea , it happends all the time, but is not the same when it is exactly the same thing, the line in the same places, the same spatial relation betwen the size of the apple and the flag, etc.

it's my opinion that perhaps the idea is imitated (not ripped as that word cant be used in this situation) and that the logo isn't taken and editted.
Probably the best solution would be to say "inspired by KSO"
Let's be honest... You could say that kso ripped the idea from apple and that jatin created an improved look. It's all ripped from apples concepts, so who gives a crap. Can we please move on.
