How do you tweak the outlook icon which defiles your tray when you minimize the app? I have modded all .dll files in program files\Microsoft Office\Office11 that contain such outlook icons, and I have a beautiful OS X mail icon in my outlook screen, but minimized, it's this ugly orange square in my tray...

you'll find a long old post of mine where I finally figured out [on my own] how to mod outlook 2000, and have sucessfully found the corresponding file in outlook 2003.
You'll also note in that post, other then yourself, I seem to be the only person who gives a flying f*ck.
i've been trying for moons to just be able to have outlook minimize to the tray. where is the checkbox for that option?

You figured it out in just more than one hour!! Can you blame anyone for not caring? You were too fast! 
Anyway... Have you succeeded now with outlook 2003 or will I just f*ckup my .dll?

what program did you use? ResHacker always causes my Outlook to crash upon reload.
damn no, its outlook xp. still an option to minimize to taskbar? i will upgrade soon.
edit: found the reg tweak over at tweakxp for minimize to tray. will reshack.
i tried to make an icon to replace the outlook icon with.. but neither photoshop or paint can save as .ico
how do i go about doing this? or where did you get your icon from? i looked in the other thread and didn't see anything.

I think I'm just plain lucky...
I reshacked the OUTLLIBR.DLL using reshacker. That's all. I allready reshacked it before, tweaking the other outlook icons, hoping they would be the ones representing the trayicons, but no... they werent.
Deleted, has found the right icon within that DLL and I just tweaked it. No problems...
The icon I made (as seen in the second screenshot, representing a small envelope, was made in Photoshop, exported in .ico format, using the iconbuilder XP filter, which is downloadable from www.iconfactory.com. You can make icons, using transparency and all with resolutions 16, 24, 32 and 48 pixels. Unfortunately no 128 pixel is supported... That's something I'm missing a lot.
Anyway, that's what I did. No secure mode or anything. Just shut down all of Outlook and tweak away....
I can't think of a reason why you're outlooks crash after reshacking. That's f*cking nasty for you guys... I think I'll be trying to mod that OUTLLIB.DLL some further, getting all kinds of nice osX icons in the app...
we'll see.
