[preview] Garageband Style

This is my approach on a garageband style. I know about the Kevin Husted theme but I always wanted to make something with wood.

Apple did it first with GarageBand.

I dont know and this can start a discussion for another thread but I always saw the apple gui and even the themes from Swiscore and Max Rudberg taking similar approaches with the skins created by some guy I dont remember the name, in 2000-2001 for Neoplanet, a skinneable windows browser. They have something similar for everything (Neos, Eylo -incredible similar-, Jetblack, and even Aqua) all of them created in '99-'00-'01. I can say that I use Eylo in 2000...

ok, all of the above to say that they even have a skin with wood and is really well designed. The site is down now (www.neoplanet.com) so I can't have all the details.

I'm not saying that they are stealing from neoplanet, but maybe they were inspired by it, only that...

what do you think of this (not about the controversy, about the image below)?

Very nice... I agree about the glyphs.

Needs a bit more work, but I like it a lot.

Post some more progress, I may give it a spin if/when it's released.

maybe I didn't explain this: It's just a photoshop image where I did the main elements and paste the less important things just for a first sketch. I was trying to find a way to implement the wood in a visual style.

I dont know how to make visual styles so anyone interested can take it and hopefully make one.

Why not make it more wood like? Also the glyphs?

Garageband has default OS X glyphs, but maybe wood would be nice as well... maybe try it in Photoshop as well and then see if it works... I like the way Garageband has the style of a decent guitar amplifier... Maybe you can take a look at a good fashioned amp and get some inspiration! :naughty:

i`m currently experimenting with some organic styles, including wood but it`s going VERY slow. Too many bug, so i`m thinking about quitting. Damn you Windows! :rant:

hehe, im stating to sound like everyone else. i dont know about everyone else, but i really like what Fer did in the first pic he made in photoshop. and think it shows great promis, and if i knew anything about makeing a theam id do it. but i dont

I like the wood though. Although dark themes are nice, I want a Woodie. There's no wrong way, to blow a Woodie.

Yes, stick with your original idea Fer. It looks great and there isn't much organic themes out there. Yours will be really unique.

I just remembered, before I came to Aqua-Soft; there was a theme on ThemeXP.org or whatever that site is that's associated to StyleXP. And they had a visualstyle called Aqua Wood or something like that, search wood or something on the vs section there.

I would more prefere for the taskbar a normal color and a brown apple to go with the wood. This looks a little bit to busy in my eyes for the taskbar
