Ipod Problem On Windows

I've installed the iPod disc but even though it configured my iPod and installed without a hitch, iTunes nor the iPod updater can detect the iPod. Windows quite happily displays it as a portable drive but I don't know where to put my music this way.

Can someone please help me with this as it's really making me mad that I spent £300 on a version of Solitaire?

I am assuming that you got a 3G iPod, I only have a 2G so I'll try to help you from there. Make sure you have iTunes opened. Then plug in your iPod to the comp. It should show it in the Sys Tray. And then, sometimes it could take a minute, iTunes will show iPod where your playlists are and start syncing.

You can't simply drop you music onto the iPod, when you sync it it places it into a special folder (iPod:\iPod_Control\Music\F## if I remember correctly) and adds it to a database file.

This would get me angry if this would happen to me. I am sorry I can't help you more.

Uh...you gotta use iTunes for music.

it's ok, fixed it, the installer wasn't overwritting the iPodService file that came with iTunes 4.2 so it wasn't actually configuring it at all.

Thanks for the help though, Yeah    , I can finally play G'n'R on my iPod.
