New Smith Flick: Jersey Girl

So, I totally snuck into a sneak preview of Kevin Smith's new flick "Jersey Girl."

Smith made the geek/fanboy classics Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

It's really keen. Everyone should go see it on the 26th of this month, when it opens.

Some words about the movie are right here if you want them:

In short: Best Smith movie since "Chasing Amy." George Carlin is brilliant, and Liv Tyler is to die for.

Yea I saw a premier last week, not a bad movie, but this is a chick flick, one most guys would fall asleep watching.

That one little girl in the movie can act though, better than ben :|

What was wrong with Dogma?

#130149

There's nothing wrong with Dogma.

Chick flick or not, I'm still seeing it.

Dogma is certainly very nice, but Jersey Girl is certainly even nicer.

("Chasing Amy" is better too. And so is "Clerks" I think.)

Have you seen "Chasing Amy?" It's a great flick, and Affleck is great in it.

Have you seen "Phantoms?" Affleck is the BOMB in Phantoms.

IMO: I dont think you can beat Dogma for a more accurate view of religion. Chasing Amy was awesome. Joey Lauren Adams gave a great preformance and is so cute. :D

The best part about Dogma is that some people view it as an indictment of religion, and some view it as a celebration of religion.

Well, that's the second best part. The actual best part is this exchange:

Bethany: May I ask what brought you here?

Jay: Some f--k named John Hughes.

Bethany: "Sixteen Candles" John Hughes?

Jay: You know that guy, too? That f--kin' guy. He made this flick "Sixteen Candles." Not bad. There's tits in it, but no bush, but Ebert over here don't give a s--t about that kind of thing 'cause he's, like, all in love with this John Hughes guy. He goes out and rents, like, every one of his movies. F--kin' "Breakfast Club," where all these stupid kids actually show up for detention. F--kin' "Weird Science," where this chick wants to take her gear off and get down, but oh no, she don't 'cause it's a PG movie. And then, "Pretty in Pink," which I can't even watch with this tubby bi--h anymore, 'cause every time we get to the part where the redhead hooks up with her dream guy, he starts sobbin' like a little bi--h with a skinned knee and s--t. And there's nothing worse than watchin' a f--kin' fat man weep.

I think Smith has had some ups and downs. I loved Dogma and Mall Rats, but I could go either way on Clerks, Chasing Amy, and J&SB Strike Back. They all seemed kind of redundant.

The previews of this movie looked pretty "chick flick"y, so I didn't plan on going. Oh well.

Smith seems to be turning into a Woody Allen. Some brilliant movies, but he keeps rehashing them over and over.

the only thing about Smith movies is that they're not really... the same. i mean yeah, they've got similar themes and all, even some of the same actors, but none of them have the same feel. for instance, dogma != chasing amy. (obviously enough, but you get the point). and i agree, it looked chick-flicky, but i'm glad to hear that it's good. although, you did say good like Chasing Amy, right? .... well .... here's hoping it rules.

as long as Jay + Silent Bob are in it, it can't be too bad.

;D

Dude, I can assure you that it is not just a chick flick. Now, if you've got a chick with you, she'll really dig it, but it's not really a chick flick. I mean, it is certainly sentimental, but that's not a chick-only thing.

Now, you can go by the trailer, or you can go by the advice of a guy who actually saw it (with no chick at his side).
