ok...my fault...thx for editing

last night i ran into big problems installing the starterbar...always getting error messages at ./configure

i dl orbit, pyorbit, glib, gdesklets, pyxmms.....and of corse pkgconfig...

but nothing worked...

i installed pkgconfig and glib told me i doesn't have it...

trying to install gdesklets it says it cant find pygtk (its installed) and gnome-python-2 (installed too)....

i really know why i have two OS one for solving problems and XP cause it it works...with nothing to solve...

ok, the facts:

Suse linux 8.2

dl the packman packages of pyxmms and gdesklet-0.26 precompiled....

cannot install pyxmms and gdesklet doesn't seem to run without it...

also dl all the other packages mentioned in forums i found in google, but nothing worked for me...

please HELP ME!!!

im finally glad to fix some of the issues...

but there is one left:

checking for GLIB - version >= 2.0.0...

*** 'pkg-config --modversion glib-2.0' returned 2.2.3, but GLIB (2.2.1)

*** was found! If pkg-config was correct, then it is best

*** to remove the old version of GLib. You may also be able to fix the error

*** by modifying your LD_LIBRARY_PATH enviroment variable, or by editing

*** /etc/ld.so.conf. Make sure you have run ldconfig if that is

*** required on your system.

*** If pkg-config was wrong, set the environment variable PKG_CONFIG_PATH

*** to point to the correct configuration files

no

configure: error: maybe you want the gtk-gnome-1-2 branch?

i installed version 221 with suse and installed 223 by myself in comandline...

now pkg-config seems to be confused and i cant install gnome-python-2

any ideas?

I highly recommend you to post these questions at Gooeylinux. There are more linux users out there and what is more, Contra will be very happy
