[help] Flyakite Icon Pkg After Uninstall

FlyakiteSP1v4.0;

After uninstalling it, most of my icons were restored, with the help of PowerToys (rebuild icons).

However, I noticed that certain things still retain the Mac Icons. The Mail and Speech icons in the Control Panel are still there. Search is still called "Sherlock" (where as the Recycle Bin actually got its name back from "Trash").

And the most annoying of all is that my "Open Dialog" seems to still have those Panther blue folders...none of my folders look like this anymore but the "make new folder" and "up one level" in Open Dialog. I'm wondering if these are known bugs of the Flyakite Icon package?

Im willing to bet the folder issue is because you havent refreshed your thumbnails. Also why would anyone want to uninstall this pack :canadian: ? If you realy want it fixed, grab the system files from another windowsXP install and just copy them into the respective folders.

Well i attached a picture of this.

And what do you mean by refresh thumbnails?

Dunno is there's an easier way, but i always delete the thumbs.db files when i change my icons. They contain the cached thumbnails.

yes, I have the same problem! the buttons don't look good with every theme! anyone knows how to fix this?

it would be kind if someone could share the original files that we could replace :rolleyes:

The Flyakite package contains more than just the shell32.dll, it changes many system files to emulate those of a Mac.

The easiest way I've found of restoring original system files is re-install XP Service Pack 1, I know it's a pain coz there's some updates you need to do after the install, but the Flyakite "uninstall" isn't 100% reliable in restoring system dlls.

TweakUI and "repairing icons" will only delete the current icon cache and replace it with your systems current default icons... it won't restore "default" system files.

hmm, the bad thing about this is that I don't have the windows xp cd :rolleyes: so, I guess I have to live with it!

Um...considering I started with XP Pro SP1 Integrated, I don't think i can just "install SP1" again.

You said that those specific files are "thumbs.db" rite?

Could you send me the original files then? :)
