Desktop Icon's Format?

Hi all,

is it possible to change the desktop icon standard-format 32x32

in the bigger format 48x48. But this without any new software and

with normal startmenue? See the pictures.

Normal icon's

You will get flambeed for not searching before starting this thread.

Search (and set the seach options to any date) in the icons and cursors forum and you will find several threads packed full of info on this topic.

You joined August last year, right?

well, I saw all posts you did since you're here, all 5 of them. generally it's allowed to lurk around, I have no problem with that either, but you should really search the forums.

and by the way, I didn't get your question. you want bigger icons? there are bigger icons in your start menue and on your desktop! or do you want them bigger than 48px? please explain... <_<

Hi schaggo,

i'am searching a mix of both. Normal icon's in the startmenue and great icon's on

the desktop. I have searched in the forum with 4 results all with a other issue. Also

google is not helpful. I think a Stardock-software with the name WindowsFX did

have these features (but $$$€€€).

If you just want a simple LARGE icons on the desktop solution then go with Avedesk.

^^ damn right

WindowFX is something different. WindowFX draws shadows to windows, adds minimize and maximize effects, makes windows transparent etc...

yeah, you look for AveDesk if you don't want to spend some money. I don't use it, because I use my desktop as a temporary place for files I have to exchange with people, I need to edit very often etc, so the content of my desk changes very often and so something "static" isn't of any use to me.

Yeah, Samurize and Ave Desk can give you larger DT icons without overflowing the Start Menu and dialogs with huge icons.

I had always used Samurize since it was easy and fun to work with, until I realized I neve used it for anything really useful.

I'm waiting for the next version of Ave Desk to hit before trying it out again. Looks like it'll give me what I need and use less resources than Samurize. (Y)

i thought the following would simply set the icon size to 48x48.

Display Properties->Appearance->Advanced->Icon->Change Size to 48.

hi all,

thank's for your help but the question was without any new software.

DikDogT, this way change also the icon's in the startmenue. I think

it's a problem of XP with no solution (without any new software).

michael

I dont think its posible without the aid of software. Why dont you want to use AVE desk, from what i hear the next release should blow your mind away

#128967

I changed mine in the Registry,if that help.

Finally, will you please STFF? I found several threads (one from November 2002!!) that answer your questions. It's like reinventing the wheel here every three weeks.

#128981

how frustrating for one to answer same question over and over again, especially when you are not being paid :)

But i notice that I'm better at finding the right post to solve a particular problem when I have seen the posts before. Deductively, I'm worse at finding the right post if I'm new to a forum even if i do STFF.

I believe we need a cool solution to this problem though I'm not aware of such achievement.

I agree 100%, but I just went to the search page for icons & cursors and entered: large icons.

Bingo, end of story. :-D

It's hard, I know.

I must be some kind of genius.

Imagine what might happen if I entered: big icons.

Wow.

/me lights cigarette, leans back in chair, ponders nature of the search function

#129077

DAMN SMOKER

GO AND DO YOUR SEARCHES SOMEWHERE ELSE!

:D

#129089

Ok first off the time it took you to flame him you coulda just given him the answer, and second i dont think hes looking for a way to change ALL of his icons, just the icons on the desktop (ie have 32 size icons everywhere besides the 48 icons on the desktop, which at this point is imposible through windows alone afik

#129169

I agree, some flaming took place, but each post actually contained a bit of information!

But that's right, changing only some icons but not all, isn't possible yet with windows.

#129171

well, hardly *flaming* per se.

and i would post STF (i will stop using the needlessly descriptive first 'F' from now on) just out of principle on this one, no offense to you lostspyder.

*large icons* & *big icons*

gee.
