[help] How To Make A Weather Config?
tnx man, but that config wont work on my comp >.
Why not?
I don't think you should have a problem as long as you are using the latest version of Samurize...
i have no experience with that, but if you use the weatherxml script v1.4, i can teach you.
it's really very simple. i'll walk you through the set up of the weather script.
1. configure the script.
-make sure the paths and locations are correct, in particular, the location of the samurize folder and skins/scripts, etc. make sure you also specify the proper instance name (e.g. "instance default").
-configure the other options like whether to restart the client or not, to kill the icon, etc.
-configure the location id.
2. open up the config and go to "add active script" and add the function "getcachefiles." test the script. it should read "true" if you've set it up properly. if it doesn't, you must reconfigure the script. if it says "true," proceed. now you can either delete the word "activescript" or change the alpha transparency so it doesn't appear on your desktop.
3. now add the meters. add a temp meter and see if it works by testing the script again. it should give the correct value. if you want to add the images, go to add png, and add the temp images (called temp_0 or something like that. 0 means today, 1 means tonight or tomorrow or something, etc.).
4. if nothing seems to update, go into the script folder and delete the temp xml files (.xml). then restart the client or reload and see what happens.
good luck.
Weather2004 plugin is the way to go!
and it`s easy to use ![]()
Check Samurize.com boards, it helped me ![]()
tnx too all, hope i'll learn it
could you please show me what do the fuctions do? I don't know how to configure parameters, functions >.< >.< >.< >.
Take a look at CRNIs WeatherMini configs, and look what parameters do which function, it helped me to do my own config with the weather2004 plugin.
If you select any of the functions ListCCTerms, ListForecastTerms and ListHourlyTerms then test the function is will show a list of commands for the particular function.
There is a whole thread over at samurize.com here on this plugin. It really blows circles around the weather script, no offense to the script author but I have been running this plugin for days straight with absolutely no problems or lockups while the script used to lock up all the time and was very slow at refreshing data. The plugin is definately the way to go, and the author torsius is working on implementing even more features. I've been able to make a perfect replica of the original Konfabulator weather widget using the .png's from the original widget and using the correct font - Futura - (hmmm, what happened to that thread?
) and this plugin. Next thing to work on is the extra links and the rollup of the original...

In my experience even with the latest 1.4 release of the XML script I found that the plugin was much more stable and quicker, although unfortunately it only allows for up to a 5-day forecast, but hopefully that will be addressed in newer releases.

Hrmm, must have missed that.....
what advantages does the plugin offer? i.e. what are some reasons for switching?
1) It's more stable, I've been using it for almost thre weeks now and never has it crashed.
2) It doesn't need restarting for a refresh, it basically updates itself without any form of manual refresh.
3) Easier to configure, comes with an ini file that you can put your details into.
4) In my experience a smaller resource hit.
I can't think of more but IMHO its the way to go for your desktop weather needs.
yeah exactly Tadis!! one question then i make a config u use my city code, and then someone probes my config, how he put's his city code???
If you don't put any Location IDs into the config i.e. leave ALL the Location IDs blank, the plugin will take the ID from your ini. When someone else downloads the config, their location id will automatically be taken from their own ini file.
