Hey all,
I'm trying to build a set top box pc(Mini ITX PC's), and I want to make it boot instantly like a DVD player. Do you guys know of any Rom Os's or Smart Card operating systems? or what hardware I could buy?
I just need a clean light version of an operating system (linux, windows i dont care) that has a web browser, Media player (windows media player compatible) and Eithernet Support (for High speed Internet).

Yea the 1st is a nice interface.
Like tivo, but without all the expense!!
Watch out people. HTPC can be a consuming hobby.

is there any way to get tv, like cartoon network, techtv, comedy central..etc through a ethernet cable in your computer instead of a tv and reciever?

Now all I need is a operating system that runs on a flash card or Burned in Rom Chip 
If you look @ the Mini-ITX, VIA Arena and the myHTPC links they talk about a win 95 thats under 64 megs running on compact flash. Im pretty sure that there some linux distros also.
