You know, just to let you know that PC companies aren't so bad.

TOSHIBA has the BEST service you can EVER imagine!

Four months ago I bought the latest laptop out there. A FULLY fitted custom Satellite Pro 6100.

Mine was the latest for 3 months. One month after that i was struck with a hardware virus that damaged my pc.

Let me just add that I bought this pc from the US with a global warranty.

I'm in the UK at the moment and called them up and toshiba said that they didn't have any laptop as powerfull as that and couldn't give me an exact replacement. So they gave me a few options but none were as good.

The P20 was coming out the next day and was alot more powerfull than my last laptop, so I asked for it, and they didn't even argue with me. They said, 'alright, done'. So my new laptop comes tomorrow and I thought I should just recommend their excellent service to you!

Cant wait to mod that 17" Laptop into an OSX wonder!

but seriously, wtf is a "hardware virus" this sounds like a lamen user term to describe "something broke and I'm to naive to say what it really was, and no real computer tech has looked at it for me"

atleast, that's what my well trained ears (eyes) hear (read).

A hardware virus is a virus that causes your hardware to do something 'irregularly'. (e.g. In theory, overclocking a pc can be caused by a program, and also by a virus causing the processor to burn "I mean in theory of a virus being created for that purpose") but obviously they have looked at the laptop since they dont just hand out free laptops. Then Toshiba would be the awsomest of all awsimity.

But @ Flarex, only break your pc if you have a global warranty, then travel to another country "one that doesn't have your pc model or one with it's specs" Lol

Hardware viruses can directly control hardware as well, ie make your 5200 RPM hard drive (try to :/) spin at 10000 RPM. Not very fun.....

Don't recommend to people to break their hardware, guys - it's what's technically known as fraud.

In other words, you can go to jail for it.

As for "hardware" virii, they are possible - for example, getting a virus written to the boot sector of your hard disk is considered "hardware", as are BIOS virii... Oh, and no manufacturer worth their salt is stupid enough to mistake user-inflicted damage for a virus
