Can Someone Tell Me A Good Plug-in...

i'm working on editing my system tray icons to make them all black and white so they look better with my object bar. i was wondering if there was a program or a photoshop plug-in that i could use to make them. i will also using it to make some icons from pngs that i have and i want the icon to be 128x128 and the plug in that i have now doesnt go that high.

Thanks

Would the Hue and Saturation work...

Ctrl+U

Saturation to -100 everything else default

Example of the network connections icon changed this way...

nc.gif

Looks a little greyer than total black...but it works I guess.

Photoshop doesn't do icons that is why, you'll have to either find some way around this, or do em in png and then make them into ico

Icon Factory has a plugin for photoshop that lets you make .ico icons directly from photohsop. But it the last time I tried it, it only supported up to 48 on XP. So........ I think it's better to get a seperate icon editor like axialis to work on icons.

hmmmm....

I do my icons in this way:

1. Photoshop 128 x 128 layered working area and save in psd format.

2. I maked a script to autoresize and save all sizes I need.

3. Open Microangelo and then create my size set: 16, 24, 32, 48, 64, 72, 96, 128.

4. Import the psds in the right place.

5. Save my multisize ico.

6. Be happy :D

I think there is a easy way, but I am happy with this way and the final product is the most acurate...

The trouble with PS could be that in XP there are only up to 48 x 48 true color icons (64 x 64 ? ) and there is not a pluging that go out this specification. BTW PS by itself don't manipulate .ico format...

if you guys go to the sosumi theme page, he has a bunch of sys tray icons already there, that are mac style, replacements for messenger, kazaa, network and more...

just look under icons, them sys tray

He wants to go from ico to photoshop and then back again to ico , not from photoshop to ico or png.

The best way is to get any icon authoring program save or export the icon as a BMP or PSD or JPEG and then bring it into photoshop going back is the reverse. Go to Cnet.com downloads and try different icon programs. Iconshop, Microangelo, and many others
