Firefox Help Please

Since everybody around here so much likes firefox, so I thought of giving it a try. Installation works fine for me, but whenever I launch the program it gives me this error "Error launching browser window:no XBL binding for browser" Any idea how to fix this.

And by the way, is there tabbed browsing in firefox like in MYIE2. Which one of the two do you guys like better.

Thanks. :staffs here:

did you install any extensions? are you using the 0.8 milestone?

yes, it has tabbed browsing (highly configurable!), and i like it more than myie2. :)

#124884

Yeah, this is the 0.8 version from mozilla website. They do have a fix for this problem posted on their website at the following link:

http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/re...extensions.html

Anyways, I followed the instructions and its working now. Thanks for the help.

great! glad you fixed it! :) i hope you enjoy the browser.

why the eye rolling?

Yep, Firefox supports tabbed browsing. Just go [File > New Tab] or CTRL-T to open a new tab, middle-click on a link to open it in a new tab, or middle-click on a tab to close it. Pretty nifty, huh?

Go Team Firefox! :)

wow, this middle click is nice. I was getting fed up with right click ---> open in new tab routine.

Any more tips for IE noobs like me? is there a mail app or a chat app with firefox. Any good safari like themes out there that don't require me to install some other software like windowsblinds.

Thanks for the help guys.

is there a mail app or a chat app with firefox.

The email and IRC clients come default with the Mozilla Suite, but if you don't like stuff bundled together, you can get the standalone email client, Thunderbird.

Any good safari like themes out there that don't require me to install some other software like windowsblinds.

The most complete listing of Firefox themes can be found at the Firefox Help themes page, but even that page isn't very complete. Many theme authors don't publish their themes (or at least not all of them) there, so you may have to go hunting.

Check the MozillaZine themes forum once in a while, as that's where themers like to post their previews. lynchknot makes some great themes, for instance.

As for a Safari-esqe skin, I haven't found one that looks quite right, so I'm actually working on my own. I'll let you know if I ever complete it. ;)

middleclick is a feature i cannot live without. sometimes i find myself middleclicking in those rare instances that i'm forced to use ie (e.g. at school).

go to the skins section. there are numerous firefox themes. also check out lynchknot's site: http://home.comcast.net/%7Elynchknot/fthemes.html

for a mail app, get mozilla thunderbird. i don't think there's any chat app, though.

Thanks a lot guys. I'm still getting used to firefox. It definitely looks more sleek than MYIE2, which I was using before.

Sorry to ask another dumb question but what do I do with the .jar files downloaded from lynchknot's site.

#125109

.jar files are theme files. you need to install them. some sites have installers.

scroll down the page and you'll see the browse and install buttons. find the theme file you downloaded and click install. you may need to restart the browser.

here's another theme + installer site: http://texturizer.net/firefox/themes/
