Bugs For Objectdock V0.86
Ok Ill start
The dock is great, I have one small miniscule bug and that's it so far, not much to complain about
If I get alot of programs running at once and get low on ram, sometimes the dock background will move over the icons, becoming a foreground layer
"My computer" link doesn't work (click---> nothing happens)
using:
Link:
explorer.exe
Argument:
::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}
Wow!!! After the 3rd version released since these bugs were reported they are still present. This is so far my favorite dock but it seems these bugs that continue to be present since at least v. .6x are still present and it is very disappointing to still see them.
1. Dock still falls behind windows now and then when it is supposed to be "always on top" and you cannot bring it to the front until you re-start.
2. Clicking on icons do not always launch the folder or web-site (although a workaround has been done for folders none exists for website links)
3. The My Computer link seldom works (worked only once in the last 10hrs that I used it)
PS: I like Magnification#2 but for larger monitors maybe #1 might be better. Objectdock v .75 is still the best behaved and most stable.

I report a minor, but pissy bug. The Trash appears full, only when I move into it something from C:\. But I moved into trash something from other volume, the trash continue to appears 'empty'. In the rest, all works OK. I'll wish a CPU Used monitor like in the last version of Yz Dock.
I still have the problem of OD crashing when I close Outlook 2002 (not Outlook Express).
Still have the bug where my TV tuner application will not work in windowed mode when ObjectDock is in auto hide mode. This bug has been around for many versions now. YzDock managed to fix this in their latest version but I'm still waiting for the ObjectDock fix.
I have similar problem to the no response of my pc. Let me explain.
After i updated to .85, i had the problem that i needed to click a lot of times, both my pc and my documents icon, to make them work sometimes they worked, other not. So i decided to uninstall objectdock and install it again. This solved the problem of my pc, but still my documents one, doenst work, well any folder I link, doesnt work!
For you guys, try to uninstall object dock, and reinstall it, it might fix some errors.
hope someone can help me
thanks in advance
The only problem I have (in YZ Dock as well), and this has been present all along, is when I have a window maximized and then minimize it, if the dock is not using the autohide feature, a bit of the window gets stuck in the dock. Kind of like the background becomes the residual image of the window that was minimized. This happens even when the background transparency is set to 0.

I went back to OD 0.75 again but have you tried dragging My Documents folder to the dock then use:
Link: iexplore
Argument: C:\Documents and Settings\Comp Station\My Documents
this works on OD 0.75 see if works for you w/ v.85 .
thanks VideoMann, it does works, but for what is the link to iexplore? I think it takes a little bit more to load the window than before. hope this bugs get to be fixed.
I'm using WindowsXP. I have added a link to a shortcut of cmd.exe to the ObjectDock. But when I click this link to open a commandprompt window, the newly opened cmd window is not shown in the running tasks on the ObjectDock. As shown by the following picture:

yeah, i use Win 2000Pro and i have a link to cmd.exe, and the window wont show up in the running apps area, but does have a running indicator under it. i think it was something put in .85 that allows you to click on an app (that is running) to bring it to the front, and a double click to run a new instance. have you tried clicking once (even though there is no running app indicator on your link to cmd.exe)?
just a thought...
oh yeah, and another bug that plagues me once in a while
object dock just seems to sort of freeze, bump cpu usage to 100% (i can hear the fan in my laptop and task manager says its object dock using the cpu). and during this "freeze", either i cant click on any icons (they dont zoom), and the running apps part of the dock isn't current (or for some reason will show small icons of the any apps i started since it froze, and looks sorta choppy. all i have to do is right click on the windows task bar, bring up task manager and kill objectdock, then restart it and everything is cool.
any clues on this?
my specs are: Dell Inspiron 8200, 1.6 GHz P4, 384MB Ram, Win 2000Pro, ObjectBar 0.86 (but i think this bug has been with me since i started using it around 0.55)

yes i used to link to cmd.exe and got the situation u said. but, now i have to link to a _shortcut_ of cmd.exe instead of cmd.exe itself because i need to maintain the font and countrycode etc configurations of the commandprompt window. therefore i cannot get the running indicator any more. also cannot bring all cmdwindow to the front by single-click.

I was able to crash OD yesterday using PopUpStopper with IE. Went to wincustomize.com with PoPUpStopper on, went to the windowblinds theme area and click on a few previews (which first try to open in a new window - then will appear in the same browser widow if PoPUp Stopper is on)...after 8 or 9 of those, OD crashed.
Can somebody please tell me why the dock continues to not popup at version .86?? It starts out popping up from behind other windows just fine, and after a few minutes it stops completely!
How can this not have been solved by now? WTF?
Is there some other program I'm running that conflicts with the dock's ability to pop up after autohiding? Is this STILL a known bug?
Someone, anyone, it's driving me mad!
Arrghhhh....
I have similar problems with the "always on top" settings.
when I maximize a window, sometimes the dock will not stay on top, regardless of the setting.
When I select "always on top" in the dock settings panel again and click ok, the dock is back on top.
Apart from that great release ![]()
Well, i have the same problem of it crashing whenever Outlook XP is closed.
But my bigger problem is running games with it there, if i move my mouse over where the dock would be on if i could see it in my game it slows the game down dramatically meaning its zooming in on the icons my mouse pointer would be over. If there is someway to have the option to disable all advanced functions as long as a program is running i think that would work well.. just an idea. As of right now i have to close the dock every time i run a game, and reopen it after.
I'm a BIG fan of Objectdock. I think its the best thing I've put on my desktop. I've only been using it since .70 and I have to say that .86 is the BUGGIEST!!! I'm not really sure what triggers it, but for no reason, it starts magnifying very slow until the point it doesn't magnify or show up at all. It also crashes when I drag over to it some shortcuts, not all... I've tried every combination of magnification mode and drawing mode and I end up with the same results - crashing. I've reverted back to .70 and if anyone has any older versions and is better than .70, can you point me where I can download it or please email it to me? Thanks a bunch.
I am running on W2000 with all the patches
DirectX8.1
PS - This is my first post here. Sorry.... I've been lurking through these boards and I have to say this place rocks and I love your desktops!!!!
Well i'm usin .86 and i haven't had those issues... mine hes never crashed....
the only issue i've found is that sometimes.. the icons stay magnified even after i take out the cursor over the dock... but it just happen once in a while....
nothing more.... mine behave very well and fast....

What system are you using? We may have different systems and that's why our experiences are different.

i figured out WHEN object dock freezes for me, and leaves me just as clueless as women and love leaves me ![]()
when i open the start menu (windows 2000), objectdock does its little cpu hog and freeze on me....
close, restart OD, its cool...open start menu, it does it again
now, explain that...
well, i dont really mean explain it or to be mean, but thats a bug i have noticed and is a bit bothersome, heheh
-Edit: actually, its not just when i open the start menu, but run through the programs files/folders in it, or expand those menus...but still, thats the glitch/bug

Originally posted by Aries326@Feb 16 2003, 08:06 PMAh, looks like you've narrowed it down to the start menu as being the trigger. I never noticed it. Anyway, I hope its fixed now that .88 is coming out soon... I guess its a bug that happens to W2000 users.
yea, it almost seems like i'm part of a minority on this board, using win2000. i hear this and that about winXP and SP-1 and non-SP1....or maybe the other win2000 users dont speak up
yea, i hope .88 fixes it...oh well, i'll get a mac soon hopefully
Well I WAS a 2000 user up till last year..... I switched (eh....
) to XP in 2003 and it's a breeze.
If you can get your hands on XP Pro (that means afford it ) try it, it's really nice.
If it's not an option rest assured that you can get very far in customizing 2000.
