Does anyone have any suggestions for a web host. Not a free one. I am done with those. I need, of course, a good uptime rating, decent Bandwidth (20GB - 30GB), PHP, mySQL and domain registration. I would like it to be no more than $30 a month if the is possible. If not, slap me. Or better yet, does anybody know of an online resource that rate various type of hosts?

They also have a great support and uptime, i have never had a problem with them they have service representatives at AIM and MSN if you ever have a problem
ill have to top Versatile's suggestion here, i am on the same plan as him, linux ul4... 1.6 gigs of space, 36gb bandwidth... an i paid i think 100 usd for 2 years? something like that... very good
How did you get ~$100 for 2 years? The UL4 plan is $110 for one year. Did you get a special?

The pricing is a little higher than at most hosts, but most hosts lick balls.
Stay away from cheap hosts. And stay away from hosts that make big promises. And don't pay in advance, because if the host goes tits-up, you are out of money.

"That's when stuff got ****ty. Turns out going for CHEAP hosting is not such a hot idea. See, there is this phenomena in the industry called RESELLING wherein legitimate hosts sell server space to people on the cheap - so that those people can found their own hosting companies.
But whereas legitimate hosting companies have things like support staff, and technical staff and patience, the reselling companies don't have any of these things. More often than not, it is just ONE GUY trying to do everything himself. That works out okay when that ONE GUY has only a handful of clients to support, but when he gets a few dozen, or a few hundred things get difficult. For a webmaster, trying to get some support but receiving no reply is frustrating.
And since resellers are committed to little more than offering the lowest price possible (gotta beat out all those other resellers) it is not difficult for them to swell their client base in a short amount of time.

Of course, the legitimate hosts who are more than willing to take the big cheques that the resellers send them for their space are just as much at fault for the problem in the industry, I think.
Anyways. Now I am paying twice as much as I did at my last host for half as much bandwidth as I used to get. Joy! "
