Powerbooks

Simple question.

I am a professional graphics, web, audio, designer. I need the most powerful laptop I can get, while at the same time being very portable.

I will be in various locations; Romania, Albania, possibly Turkey, Croatia ect...I will need to record groups & their ethnic instruments. I will need to edit onsite. These will not be made for mass distribution, but need to be good. Given that, plus the visual design work I do for clients, what pb would you guys reccomend & why? Thanks for your input.

well since you are going to be moving around alot go with the 15". you dont want to lug around the 17".

yeah if you travel alot you don't want to carry something so big as the 17*!

Both of them are really very similar. Go for the 15" if you need mobility.

If screen size matters, just use the DVI support for external monitors.

the 17" isn't really much heavier. so for carrying around it is a minimal difference as far a weight is concerned.

but it is a bigger machine, and thus loses a few points there. but you'll love the extra screen space.

17" depletes battery quicker as well.

According to the specs I read it sounds as though the battery lasts as long, & it is even thinner then the 15"! The new 17" was tested with a DVD (sound on.) It lasted 2hrs. 40 min. That is about what is estimated for the 15".

15"=1.25 in. thick

17" = 1 in. thick

I don't know. Any of you know for a fact about batery strength ect...?

-I will not be one of te first to get a G5 powerbook either. Stuff is always buggy in the begining.
