Apple Marketshare: 1.7%

According to Forbes;

Merrill Lynch increased its 2004 unit growth forecast to 13% from 11%, the same as in 2003, "based on a decent consumer showing and an improving corporate market." In the fourth quarter of 2003, Hewlett-Packard took over the worldwide unit share lead at 15.3%, but Dell, with a 14.5% share, "could leapfrog HP in the first half," Merrill said. According to the research firm, both HP and Dell "should gain share over time" and "Dell someday could achieve a 30% share." IBM came in third in the quarter with a 5.3% share, Fujitsu/Fujitsu Siemens had a 3.8% share, and at fifth was Taiwanese-based Acer with a 3.5% share. According to Merrill, ninth-place Apple Computer saw unit share dip below 2% for the first time--down to 1.7% in the fourth quarter. Merrill said, "We expect iPod success eventually to spill over into Mac purchases."

true that timmy boy. but hey it just shows their client base is dwindling. like those ibook [ or powerbook , cant remember hahaha ] problems with the screen & the ipod dealie. their stuff is cool, but who doesn't like solving problems when it comes to pcs :6 . mmmm i can sleep well that microsoft is not going anywhere soon [ who can tell? ] no one can tell but, its a peaceful sleep......

True Dav, but think about it, maybe, Apple's income relies on the positioning they are using, probably out of our grasp they are trying to put themselves trough to a niche that doesn't really care if the company does better or worse (obviously not to the extent of going bankrupt), and maybe, this particularly and carefully selected niche would divert from the brand in terms of loyalty specially because in their eyes, they might start appearing as "sellouts", a company that is more after the profit than satisfying the customer.

Why do you think that Mercedes Benz, even tough they know their price is the highest of its market segment, keep the prices up and dont care if BMW sold more series for example...

Does he own just a percentage or does he actually work with in the company. I mean iTunes in now on a PC that probably has something to do with Bill Gates putting his money into Apple.

I think by this time next year Apple is going to have a huge increase in sales. Just on iPod's alone. Also, all my geekass friends are saving their pennies to buy an Apple. The crazy thing is before iPod's and the G5's, 20 or so of my friends cursed Mac users. I guess a pretty case makes a big difference.

well I ain't ever going to buy a mac. Linux runs just as good on a normal pc and that pc costs a lot less than a mac.
