Weather Not Updating Because Of Firefox?

before my last reformat, i was running the weatherxml script on my computer and it was working just fine, however this time around not only did i set firefox as my default browser, i uninstalled microsoft explorer from add/remove programs (i suspect this does nothing, since i can still enter a web address in the 'address' bar when i'm in 'my computer', and explorer still loads the page)

now the weatherxml no longer updates. i have a haunting suspicion that it's because of firefox, since i assume most of these xml scripts use microsoft.xmlhttp. <_<

how do i fix this, or do i need to set explorer as my default browser? does anyone else using firefox as their default have this problem?

i'm using firefox as my default browser, everything works great- i cant imagine how the browser would effect the way the xml weather script works. Are you sure you have an active script to update the cache files? Also try deleting the .xml files in the scripts folder (named 120min and 30min i think)

what's happening is if i delete the xml files, the weather widget just goes to n/a without refreshing.

but after experimenting, i've come to this: if i run the original ini file, it updates fine. but when i use a combined ini (i.e. weather in conjunction with color labels) it doesn't update. however, as i mentioned, my combined ini worked fine before i updated my version of samurize. wtf?

maybe i need to recombine my ini. any tips on doing that other than using the config tool? i notice that it does a pretty crappy job.

are you sure you have an active script to update the cache, i didnnt know to use it when making my first weather widget- and i had the exact same problem

its actually moss, taken from a wallpaper i did (click on the link and go to the Photo section to see the whole collection)

i mean in the config there needs to be an active script object, this is generally done on an item thats invisible (no graphic or text assigned to it) the script updates teh chache file on a set interval (you set it when you setup the active script)

to make one, right click on the workspace- choose add active script, select the Desktop weather script, and then choose "getcachefiles" as the function

definitely check to see if you're getting the cache files. test the script and see if it says true (then after, you can make it completely transparent). it must read true.

then you can add your meters and test them. if those aren't working, something is wrong and you'll need to check the script and edit it, or check your network settings.

i doubt that's the problem, though.

delete the xml files and reload the client a few times. eventually it'll start working.
