[release] Media Controller

As promised, here is the media controller widget that I've ported from Jim Puls' iTunes Controller for Konfabulator.

Basically, I've been working on a way to control the different media players that people use, all from one config and this is the resulting widget. There is now need to edit any configs or ini files, simply double-click the 'Select Player.vbs' that is placed in your scripts folder and in the pop up box enter 1, 2, or 3 (winamp/qcd, itunes and foobar respectively).

And that is all you need to do, everything else is done by the widget.

Great work, but i have a little problem. I followed your instructions but when I enter the number for the player and hit ok the error message (screenshot below) appears. I've did everything as you told to but this message comes everytime. I also edited the paths in the ini files myself but still the error message. The widget runs now, the play button works but when music is playing the play button is still there and do not change to pause, I also can't switch to a different player layout.

The last line in the screenshot says runtime error (not sure if it's understandable since it's german)

Sorry my fault, replace the 'ChangePlayer.vbs' file with the one attached and then try again.

I've just updated the zip on my site, so you can either download the attached vbs or if you like you can download the updated zip.

The pause png only displays if you have the visualisations running, in winamp you need to press Ctrl+K and start the samurize vis plugin/ in itunes you can start the vis through menu or Ctrl+T. I think foobar does it automatically.

thx now it works and no error message comes up, but the play button still don't change to the pause button when music is playing (I think it should?)

I use it for winamp, maybe there is the problem?

Have you started the Samurize visualisation from within Winamp?

If not, make sure Winamp is the active window and press Ctrl+K:

1) Scroll down to Plugins > Visualisations

2) Highlight the Samurize Visualisation 2.0 plugin and press start.

If you can't get this widget to work, you can always download the winamp skin from my website

Thx a lot, if it start it it works but I have to start it everytime when I start winamp? Or is there a way do always start this automatically?

edit: Sorry I haven't read your edit in the post above mine, I guess i'll use foobar instead of winamp. Always good when you could choose between some great players.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that, yes there is a way to start visualisations automatically:

1) Open up Preferences in Winamp (Ctrl+K)

2) Scroll down to 'Plugins'

3) Tick the 'Auto execute visualisation plug-in on playback' option.

As long as you have the samurize vis plugin selected, this should sort out your play/pause image problem.

I have no idea why that would happen?

Do you have the latest version of samurize? because the error seems more like a program error or plugin error because normally when a config doesn't work, it just doesn't show up correctly, I've never known a config to generate an memory fault?!

My best advice would be to try reinstalling the latest version of sam.

Thanks for the comments, Just to let you guys know, I've more or less completed the Konfabulator Milk Suite (as previewed on my website) and this time there won't be ANY SCRIPT EDITING OR MANUAL SCRIPT EXECUTION NECESSARY!, everything is automated from within the running widget!

Expect a release in the next week.
