Xml Icon
Now how does one actually change the XML Icon under WinXP? It don't work with Iconpackager and it doesn't work under folder options/file types... >.![]()
Check icon packager again it gives an option to place a icon tab in properties so you can change them. Just make sure it is checked in icon packager oiptions.

Yah... make a new thing in iconpackager that links to folder options/file types... don't work. the XML Icon is locked. Whatever I try changing it to, windows just does a big F U, blinks the screen a little, and does a big F U again. Did the "repair icon" thing in TweakUI, did the "Icon Cache" thing in Iconpackager.
I know the XML Icon is SUUCH a small thing to want to mod... but i just HAVE TOooo!! The original is worse then ugly... :6
This is what I think is the problem and you Office2003 ppl can asnwer this. The XML Icon is linked to be opened with an Office2003 XML Editor. The Editor's .exe doesn't have the XML icon in it.
The XML Icon isn't even linked up to refer to any .dll or .exe where it's pulling the icon from.
I think it's autoset/preset by Office2003 in the Registry and isn't editable unless one finds the registry entry.
I was looking through c:\program files\common files\microsoft shared\office11 (i think this is the folder, I'm at work right now) and int his folder are some XML type .dlls.
Opening them up with resource hacker, i see all these lines of script with Regedit Hexes. I don't understand that stuff so I was immediately baffled and lost...
so much pain just to change the XML Icon!!
If anybody is willing to tackle this (which i think would be GREAT fun), i can take massive amount of screenshots for u guys (when i'm not at work of course). ![]()
Is the .XML icon below the one you are trying to replace? If so, it's in the msxml3.dll file in the system32 folder, edit with reshacker, replace with replacer and you're done. If this isn't the icon, post a pic of it so I know what it looks like and maybe I can find it...
Yay!!
