[question] Huh.. Firebirdfox?

This might sound kind of stupid, but I dont get it. What's the deal with those foxes and birds of fire? Ofcourse.. I could look it up myself but I am sure that we have alot of users who would like to explain.

They are browsers - right? :)

Are they?!

What's so special about them? Why do I see soooooo many different posts about them? I still dont get it.

Is this the end?

the answer to all your questions lies within

give me more links - satisfy my thirst :vampire:

anyhow.. actually I was kinda hoping to hear/read your personal opinions and what YOU (users of aqua-soft) like/know about them.. not some link or copy/pasted review.

bwahahaha. good one.

and its so true

tabs are great. (ya i know opera, myIe.. etc).

Opensource always makes me happy.

it renders more quickly.

You can find builds optimized for your architecutre in the forums (SSE2)

No stupid ActiveX stuff, so you don't have to worry about getting stupid popup software installed without knowing it. It wont even ask/show you anything.

Skinnable, not only that but the interface is all around more hackable attackable then MyIE or opera.

Extensions, thousands of extensions to add even more features (www.mozdev.org)

popup blocker (so what XP-SP2 is going to add it, we had it first)

did i mention it's OSS?

yeh, otherwise you get the ugly blue color.

wuts the deal with the name though, they keep changing it, linking one word to another

I pretty much echo all of what others have said... but the most important stuff to me is the customizability, rendering speed, and tabs. I hate having lots of windows in the taskbar, they annoy me.

So where can u get themes and stuff from then ?? Ive been wanting to get rid of IE for some time now and this seems like the best way to go. Is there a theme for it that makes it look like safari ??

I checked the theme section on the link provided but there doesnt appear to be any.

Thanks

#120701

several themes will be released soon. keep checking the skins section.

you can also check lynchknot's site: http://home.comcast.net/%7Elynchknot/fthemes.html

and texturizer: http://texturizer.net/firefox/themes/

#120703

Thanks dreamz i appreciate the links....

I just downloaded it so im of to play around and hopefuly ditch IE

#120716

no problem. firefox is just such a neat browser. i hope you enjoy it. :)

try out some tweaks as well. you can tweak the settings to increase performance.

i've ditched ie since firebird 0.6.

#120722

my top reason for using Firebird:

right clicking an image and choosing 'view image'

best option EVER

#120741

One thing I hate about Microsoft is though, why do they have to make some sites i.e. Windows Update only compatiable with IE, it really steams me!

-Jimmy S

p.s. Is there any way around this, if there was, I would then stop IE from taking up valuable space on my hard drive.

#120749

love firbird/firefox...ok..one request...I will be satisfied...is to have a option for open new links in tab by default in preference ..so that when its set as default...I don't have to right click and goto the menu then select open link in tabs..it will just automatically open in the tab...saves lots of clicking if you surf quite a bit...I am sure we all do...

#120758

Why don't you click and drag it onto the tab bar? You need to have more than one tab open though.

#120759

uh

They are the best two (firefox for browsing, thunderbird for email) clients for browsing and email I haver ever used...cept for symbian evolution but that is only for Linux.

If you have a mouse with a scroll-wheel that functions as a third button, just use that to click on a link and it will open in a new tab. That has definitely become one of my fav features in firefox.
