[release]recyclebin Desklet

Many requested it, so now it is here:

RecycleBin Desklet for AveDesk

The desklet is actually for the not yet released 1.1, so not all options won't work in 1.0.

Preview

preview.gif

What does NOT work in 1.0?

- Drag-'n -drop

- Easy configuration through dialogues

- Empty Bin

- Right click menu

(all those options work in 1.1 btw)

What DOES work in 1.0?

- Label formatting

- Different images for empty/full

- Open bin on left click

Download at DockEx

But, how to configure it without 1.1?

You can edit your theme.ini. First close AveDesk then open theme.ini. Now search for the Recyclebin part (search for \recyclebin.dll).

There are 5 options:

  • LabelData - the format of your label. You can use the following options:
%s the size of the recyclebin in bytes/kB/MB/GB etc
%n the number of files in the bin
    %# newline
    %% percentage sign

  • ImgEmpty - the path to the image that should be used when there are no items in the bin
  • ImgFull - the path to the image that should be used when there are items in the bin
  • NoRecycle - 1.1 only (dragdrop)
  • AskRemove - 1.1 only (dragdrop)

Questions? Post them here.

Enjoy,

Andreas

lol

ah, come one. it´s great to know, that u all seems to allready have 1.1 (for testing reasons ?), but this do not make it easier for all the others to wait for it.

;)

oh come on guys!

it`s not professional to act like that!

what would you think if i was rubbing it in your face when i had 0.1 of AD? and 0.2, and 0.3 and.....and 1.1?

wait till AV is done and then talk about it!

it`s on the developer to release the prog/skin/widget/whatever.

what happened to the sanctity of beta tesing silence?

#118426

:D good Preview ... and excellent job.

#118686

well i found one problem with the recycle bin docklet.. not really with the docklet its self but with one of the file names.. the empty.png file was named emtpy.png so the docklet kept getting the question mark..

its an easy fix just rename the file.. hehe if its not already fixed or if no one knows about it..

i got the file from dockex.com on 02-23

:secret: I think Avedesk 1.1 is coming out soon, what do you think? ;)

#118749

i think you think too much :) (i'm saying this looking at your avatar :P)

you'll see when it'll be completely done... i think Andreas need more time to realy finalize the 1.1 and make it bugless

be patient!!!

#118933

Thanks !! I looknig for the 1.1 :D

well not sure if some of you know this

but you can hide your recycle bin icon by either

right clicking the desktop>arange icons by>show desktop icons(unchecked)

but doing this will hide all the icons off of you desktop

you can also hide your recycle bin icon by using tweakui

in tweakui click on desktop and uncheck the recycle bin

you can get tweakui here(its free)

hope this helps some of you

Or without having to install any software open up the "Run" dialog and run gpedit.msc, browse to User Configuration/Administrative Templates/Desktop and change the setting for "Remove Recycle Bin icon from desktop" to "Enabled"

I know I'm being stupid - but the amount of times I have tried to drag something onto the trash can before I remember that its part of AveDesk

I don't know if this is much work - but could the right click - empty trash feature be added?

Or should I just be patient and wait for 1.1? :naughty:

Check out http://www.aqua-soft.org/board/index.php?s...=0entry152098 should work with AD1.0 too, but I didn't test it <_

#132588

I know this thread is like two years old...

I was wondering if I could convince anyone to take up arms on this. There are some typos throughout this desklet that are nitpicks, to be sure, but I'd love to see this cleaned up, and I just don't know how to edit such a thing.

Basically, what I'm asking to change is all instances of "emtpy" to be fixed to "empty" and to fix all appearances of "recyclebin" to read "recycle bin."

This is *probably* a minor fix for anyone able to disassemble a DLL (not my area at all...), but it would really make me happy if someone did it. If it was already done, and I missed it somewhere, feel free to post a link for me!

Thanks in advance,

#424655

This thread is old, this desklet has been replaced by newer stuff, and you just need to download Resource Hacker to change strings in a dll :)

#424659

Hmm...resource hacker allowed most of the fixes needed, but still cannot fix the popup menu that appears during a right click on the trashcan... any suggestions?

Also, I'm using this desklet in a freebie called Rocketdock. If you know of a more recent item that will do the same trick but is more compatible, please say so.

Thanks again for the help, too!

#424661

Nevermind. Found the typo fixed here: http://www.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?...D=8729&LibID=29

Thanks again for the help. If Andreas ever comes by here anymore, thanks to you, too. Great plugin!
