you can try changing the default system font to lucida grande (or whatever) by going into the registry, finding:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\FontSubstitutes

and changing the values in "MS Shell Dlg" and "MS Shell Dlg 2" to lucida grande. reboot.

that'll change the system font all over.

@Dreamz: could you tell me what was there before? I changed ms shell dlgs to lucida grande long time ago and I can't remember what's supposed to be there by default. And I need right now. Please ^_^

If you use Mozilla, you have to change the font in there a different way.

If you download the extension Preferential, it shows a whole list of new strings which you can add to the .js files to mod your browser.

MS Shell Dlg is Microsoft Sans Serif

MS Shell Dlg 2 is Tahoma

I made a post over at AquaXP ages ago about something similar to this. I was just wondering if anyone found a suitable mac-font to replace these fonts? I find that when I use something like LucidaGrande, it just makes a lot of dialogs really wide and the tabs look a bit odd.

pe7er, sorry i didn't tell you the fonts earlier. i was out all day, but at least sid knew! :)

@dappleyard: for firefox, you don't need to do that. merely go to about:config and change the font.default value to "serif" or "san serif." the actual fonts depend on what you set for serif and sans serif in the options > fonts and colors.

Another option:

1. Get Adobe Type Manager(ATM)

2. Search the forums for the Soulless fonts

3. load them using ATM

4. Choose 'Use new for all'

5. Enjoy

It's nice to see a topic where people actively discuss about modding windows and not posting pics of their cars or husbands/wives etc....(you know what I mean).

Please keep it up dear community.

P.S. Thanks Duckie, I didn't know that method. :)
