Bizarre Problems With Firefox

I have no idea where to put this but here goes anyway.

My Firefox installation seems to be missing some... slightly vital... interface parts. e.g. It has no scrollbars and no back/forward button at all. All I have is refresh, cancel, home and the address bar (The missing buttons don't even appear in the customize box so I can't have removed them).

Thankfully I have one of those fancy explorer mice that allow you to scroll around a page and flick back and forth between pages.

Anyone have any ideas on why this has happened?

This happened to me too... But I have scrollbars sometimes, and back/forward buttons with some themes.

Did you remove your profile folder from a previous version of Firefox(Firebird)? This i believe is happening because of incompatibilities(sp?) between the themes for 0.7- and Firefox 0.8. If you remove your profile folder and create a new profile this should fix things for you. Or you could also just switch to the default firefox theme.

BTW, profiles are located in C:\Documents and Settings\USER NAME\Application Data\Phoenix

Hope this helps! :D

i would try a clean installation of firefox. that may help. backup your profile folder (and put it somewhere safe), then delete that folder, and remove firefox. then install firefox and run it (let it create the profile). once done, copy over the files you want from your backup (e.g. user.js, bookmarks.html, etc.).

agrees with dreamz,

you may have also found a theme that is incompatible with your build version.

This is probably because you are using a Firebird skin/theme (like one of Lynch's that hasn't been updated, which is a lot of them

extract all the files in the theme .jar file.

Search all files and contents for "/widgets/"

Open up the files in notepad and replace all instances of "/widgets/" to "/bindings/".

Save files. Zip up all the files and rename to .jar.

then uninstall and re-install the theme.

It's ok, the profiles thing worked. I'm using lynchknot's SAF-P theme and am no longer having any problems with it (It was because I uninstalled Firebird after installing Firefox).

you have to first backup your classic.jar in the chrome folder then simply copy it over to the folder.
