Arrg! Cont Install Garnome On Redhat 7.2!

Hi Contra et al.

Just decided to put redhat 7 on my laptop (i had it lying around).. and want to use Garnome to update my gnome install so i can make use of the cool mac themes out there However... i try and install it using

make paranoid-install

in the desktop folder of the garnome folder created when i unpacked the original download... but it always gets to a point where i get the following error:

/bin/sh: root/garnome/intltoolize: No such file or directory

I'm kinda new to linux so i figure it may be something i'm doing wrong... any help would be appreciated... and i think i feel an all-nighter coming on getting this lot working lol... especially the DVD... any suggestions on what app to use to play DVDs?

This sounds like the files are not where the scripts expect them to be, this happens quite alot when using linux distribs from time to time.

You will be needing to do some remapping and/or alias/moving to get everything pointing to the right place. I have seen happen alot wth redhat, even though it appears to hapen in mandrake quite a bit also.

My suggestions would be to make sure to log in to your box as root and maybe doing some remapping or editing of scripts to point to the correct areas (even though you are going to have to find out where the hell they were put first, you going to be spending some time searching)

I dont have enough time today to walk through the steps to how to remap or script edit, I suggest you jump into a newsgroup and ask for help, someone there will help you out or point you to some documentation for you to read up on what you are doing and how to make sure you dont mess up.

hi, i installed garnome .30 last night.

there's a mistake in the instructions:

instead of:

cd desktop

make paranoid-install

try:

make paranoid-install

from the _garnome-0.30_ directory (not the desktop directory). this should install some basic apps and drag the app it's missing along. let it compile some, then go back to desktop and try make paranoid-install again.

btw, gnome 2.5.4 really isn't worth it. there are few changes, it seems buggy, and not too interesting
