i was born in the 80s,
that makes me feel old now. i was born in 75
The 80s are my favorite time period coz it was the birth of thrash metal and during which some of the Gods of steel forged their best works.....Metallica, Iron Maiden, Manowar, Megadeth, Judas Priest, Slayer, Accept, Savatage, Ozzy Osbourne.
Ahh **** I want the 80s back!!!!
Yea, those were the days... and the music!
MAIDEN!! that was one of the first concerts i went to, on the 7th son tour (i'm now embarrased to say the first was whitesnake/great white in '87). what about anthrax? state of euphoria and i'm the man were great albums.

you know....
I love the 80s, but I never really paid much attention to the rock behind it. Of course the def leppard and stuff...but i never bought whitesnake, poison or anything like that.
are the albums good?
I was 1 yr old in the 80's :baby:
sid you're a kid. Dont surpass yourself ya canada luva
btw the 80s also saw the rise of extreme metal in the form of Death Metal and the so-called Gothenburg Metal (Melodic Death Metal).
Some of the best extreme bands from the 80s include Venom, Mercyful Fate, (early) Slayer, Kreator, Death, At The Gates, Morbid Angel, Possessed and In Flames.
And never doubt the power of power metal in the form of Blind Guardian, Jag Panzer and Stratovarius.
*sigh* The 80s were a time of "real" metal and not this poser bull**** we see these days like Korn, Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park *puke*.
As I said before....FAAAAAAAAAACK I WANT THE 80s BACK!!!!
EDIT: btw Goku **** off you nirvana loving freak :6 ![]()
ditto I realy enjoyed the 80's
born in 68 so the late seventies and eighties were my time. really miss the music, but like my powerbook way better than my old Commodore C64.
i do have to say, as far as music goes...i think 90-92 we excellent years. after that, is when s*** started to come out of the woodwork. and the stuff now? FOREGET IT!

So who's going for Ozzfest this year? I've heard the lineup is gonna be good. No nu-metal crap this year like Disturbed, Linkin Park or Evanescence.
Here's the tentative lineup:
ATREYU
BLEEDING THROUGH
OZZY OSBOURNE
JUDAS PRIEST
SLAYER
DIMMU BORGIR
SUPERJOINT RITUAL
BLACK LABEL SOCIETY
SLIPKNOT
HATEBREED
EVERY TIME I DIE
LAMB OF GOD
also some unconfirmed bands are:
FEAR FACTORY
LACUNA COIL
IN FLAMES
This year's Ozzfest is gonna ROCK!!
I wanted to go to Ozzfest 2 years ago, when Black Sabbath were preforming. I heard they played The Wizard (no relation to my nick, that's another song). Close to my favorite song by Black Sabbath.
like Sid said, I'm a nirvana loving freak, and I **** all the time.
80's for me.. off course music, but let's see what else
-L.A. Gear sneakers with the weird curl on the sides.
-I believe it was more sunny those days
-Miami Vice was hot fast and cool
-Everyone including me had very very bad hair
-We had a Commodore 16, 64 128 (hell we even had pong with the slider control but that was earlier)
-Nintendo had a console with a lasergun and a stupid robot
-Sega Master System... ahhh
-Transformers were still drawn and not some cheap ass 3d animation
-I had my first walkman... with 4 penlights.. (iPod anyone)
-I had my first PC a Laser XT 386... with double 5,25 floppy drives.. and PC Storyboard to create my very first animations...
-A Mouse? what?
-I did had a scanner, a stupid brushlike T-shaped thing.. that you could roll over you photo's...
-You could dial yourself.. those days.. (not anymore over here)

Agreed...
I still have the scars from my limited edition Tom Knox skateboard.

why does everybody leave out grindcore, for christs sakes it is a genre in its own respects.
i wish Sodom got as much credit as Venom did. People treat Napalm Death like it never existed. <_<
anybody know any good grindcore bands?
a few that rock my world are Nasum, Berzerker, Brutal Truth and Today is the Day.
Sid did u like lamb of gods second album? i thought it was a big seperation from their earlier sound, which was much harder in my book..must...not...sidetrack....sheeet.
80s was more abt Eurythmics for me (was only 5)
u could hear the same god damn song from every corner of town. oh and ataris and their kinky joysticks that broke every three rounds. aahhm...
bring back the 80s and i'll dance arabic for everybody :naughty:
i'm sorry, but i just can't get into those death metal bands... like dark angel and cannibal corpse... i don't know if they were 80's or early 90's... how do you understand the lyrics? there was another one in the genre called bolt thrower that i bought the tape for back in the day, only for the cover art... once i put it on to see what the music was, i was confused, a little angry at myself that i just spent $8.99 for incoherent growling. if i wanted that, i would talk to grandpa. here's the picture of the album (i had to look it up to see what it looked like again, god, i was such a dungeons and dragons geek!)
Yup. "As The Palaces Burn" is an amazing album and a complete breakaway from "New American Gospel".
As far as grindcore is concerned, I'm not much into it but here are a few bands I like:
Carcass (the Gods of grindcore)
Napalm Death
Nasum
Cephalic Carnage
Brutal Truth
Agathocles
I'm mostly into Black and Gothenburg (melodic death) metal. Some of the bands I like (excluding the 80s stuff I mentioned before) are Dimmu Borgir, Arch Enemy, Cradle Of Filth, Opeth, Old Man's Child, Lamb Of God, Children Of Bodom, In Flames, Dark Tranquility, Emperor and many more which I'm too lazy to type...
btw does it ever piss you off when people say that Cannibal Corpse are grindcore? IMO they are death metal no matter which way you look at their music.
that's weird sid, we posted at the same time, see what i just wrote above yours... btw, i heard on the radio today, anyone in the st. louis area wants to see cannibal corpse, they'll be here on 2/26. here's that line up
Cannibal Corpse, Emaciation, Hypocrisy, Exhumed, Vile

Damn that's too far from here. At least I'll get to see Slayer and Dimmu at this year's Ozzfest in Toronto.
Ah, you kids and your death metal.
I'm originally from Staten Island, New York. I stood in line to see Breakin' on the big screen, and was a member of a breakdance crew called Wild Style Breakers. We were always scoping for discarded refrigerator-type boxes to spin on. I had big-ass Run DMC shell-top Adidas with fat neon laces.
