I hooked up my dorm tv (it comes iwth the room. i live in a hotel as my dorm haha over at Southern Cal) to my computer as a 2nd monitor and got this program called Ultra Mon...manages 2nd monitors (or more) VERY VERY well. i'd recommend it. but neways...waht i'm actually happy about...MY NOTEBOOK'S (read below 2 c specs) VID CARD CAN RUN D3D STUFF ON THE 2ND MONITOR!!!! most cant run open GL stuff. but i figured out how to fullscreen UT2004, enlarge the reticle and make it white and cut down on HUD crap to make it seem like a pimp console game. so pretty much im playign UT2004 (unreal tournament 2004 demo for those that are clueless) like a console game but with keyboard and mouse. talk about my dream.....=) i just had to share!
I Am So Happy!
hahaha, that is pretty sweet.
Heh, the only problem would be that the actual output quality of a TV Out card isn't neither the output quality that a real console has and/or the real output quality of a computer hooked up to a monitor.
It's a simple matter of DotPitch sizes and other technical stuff.
Still, it's sweet to use your computer with a TV. ^^
I miss my Xbox, because I could watch Naruto from it's modded 60GB HDD. *giggles*
The problem is the TV. It has a lower dot pitch than a computer monitor. So no matter what you hook to it the dot pitch is still lower. Things that are designed to be run on a TV compensate for this buy making most things, especially text bigger.
Though If you hooked a console to a computer monitor, it would look better than it does on a TV as well.
You are biased against computers, aren't you. A console isn't any more real to hook to any type of screen than anything else. That's not to say that some video cards don't have crappy video out chips. But that doesn't represent computers in general.
okay man
