Menuetos

MenuetOS includes the tools you'll need to modify and compile the kernel and applications. Plus, it has a good-looking graphical user interface, and you can skin your application windows.

Tell me guys what you think about this find.(never mind if you already know about this)

Its written all in assembly. Thats just a trial of endurance for the programmer.

this was just demonstrated on 'screen savers' tonight... i don't know if that's where you heard of it, or just coincidence? it's pretty neat though, one floppy

Impressive. I think I just found another reason to boot up my PC...

That must have been a hellishly long job. Impressive as anything though!

Does indeed look amazingly simple, and seems good too. :blink:

Written in assembly does not equal efficient.

When you get write down to it, everything ends up as assembler. Most of the time, it's much more difficult to write coherent, reliable programs in assembler from the ground up, although that's the way it used to be done, and that's the way I learnt...

Writing an OS in assembler, though? That's a phenomenal acheivement, I would just tend to doubt the validity of it as anything other than an interesting exercise...

yes wookietv thats where i saw it :D

The coolest thing about this app is you have the ability to add programs to it but they have to be compiled of course

Its fast and has already tones of application built into it.what more can you ask -_-

Only problem about this MenuetOS... It's Floppy Based. And unfortunately, floppy disks are the most unreliable carrying media that has ever seen the light of day...

But I'm SO going to test it! ^^

It only says it's small enough to fit onto a floppy. I'm sure you could boot it just fine from a CD. ^_^

Yeah, I thought so too. Although I would have to take the trouble to make that CD bootable... But I could stuff it with lots of other open source programs and MP3s, Documents, etc. etc... That would be great. ^^;

Although, If I were to use a CD... I would use that Linux distribution that runs from the CD... I believe it was Knoppix, right? ^^;

I think its called PHLAK it boots from cd too
