Usenet Help Needed

My ISP has reset their usenet servers to extremely low retention. I am unable to get anything.

I am hoping one of you knows a free Usenet server with ALL the groups and high retention.

I don't think such a beast exists these days. I tried to find one myself a while back and after days of looking in all the right places I turned up with not much to show for it and now subscribe to Giganews.

All groups (or even worthwhile groups) and retention just isn't out there for free.

I did find lots of free servers, but the service was always patchy at best, very few carry any binary groups, they are generally very slow and retention is very variable. Group listings go from 30 to 80000 or so.

See if you can get to alt.free.newsservers on your current setup and you'll see the hassle you need to go through just to try and get/keep connected. As far as I recall it's almost impossible to post to any of them either. It's not the only place to look but it'll give you some decent pointers and sometimes you can luck out for a week or so
