[suggestion] All-around Fast Reply

Have you all noticed how the Fast Reply option is available only on some of the forums in AquaSoft?

Well, it's really annoying! Isn't there any way to make that Fast Reply feature something default for EVERY forum? I mean... I don't see why not.

Tim's left it switched off in certain forums to stop people posting craptacular posts - they have to make some sort of effort to post, as opposed to being able to post "by accident".

Personally, I never use fast reply, so it doesn't bother me in the least...

For us dialup users, FastReply is wonderful.

People will post crap no matter what, so I say yes for fastreply being enabled in all forums.

Linux-dialup users deserve all the punishment that they receive, methinks... Especially American ones who make blog posts to Bumpy Lizards ;)

In all seriousness, though, if it makes life better for dialup monkeys, then I'm all for it :)

Stevie BM, you are forgetting that with the new rules, spammers won't be a problem anymore... So now it would make sense to use the Fast Reply all around... ;)

You're forgetting that Contra, theunknown, Tim, Jef and I are the reason that spam won't be a problem :P

If there were no rules to back you up on your decisions against Spammers, you would be nothing but Power Abusers. -_-

I don't know. Are you?

If you are, it's nothing to be proud of... At least I wouldn't.

I think he was (trying) to be humoursome.. ;)

On a serious note, Fast-Reply in all/none of the forums has been discussed a few times and no-one seems to want to switch it to either extreme. I do agree, with having to click the reply button people (usually) spend more time to reflect on what they say, than if there was just a handy field at the bottom.

Yeah its a wonder for dial up peoples. I got all disapointed when i was on dialup and i wanted to flame someone and i hadda wait for antoher page to load.

#112896

The annoying part of it is that I know that it could be easily made so that every forum has a Fast Reply option...

I don't know what Timan is thinking, but I don't think the "Reply" button scares the Flamers. They have nothing better to do in their lifes anyway.

So just be a good guy and give us an All Around Fast Reply? Please?

Don't know if you're trying to be humoursome (good word es.xxi) as well, but you hit right on the point either way.

That's supposed to be the aim of not having quick reply. If you've got to wait for another page to load before you can flame someone, then perhaps you'll think twice about it and only do it if it's really worth it.

And since when has FLAMING been a problem here at Aqua-Soft? Oh, what's that again? Oh, yeah... NEVER.

C'mon, we have to also accept the fact that this community is REALLY nice compared to other communities, like, let's say, Neo • Geo .com.

Flaming is not a problem. Only SPAMMING is a MINOR problem here, and with the new rules, it should not be a problem anymore.

So why waste such a good and handy feature like "Fast Reply"?

You obviously haven't been here long!

If you had, you would have seen some knock-down, drag-out flame wars. Just see what happens when you mention the names VideoMann and JMitch to any of the veteran members. Also, visit the 'Ripped Works' forum sometime- almost every thread in there is a flame war.

Turning off Fast Reply is a good idea, IMHO. You think the post-count whores are bad now? Just see what happens when you give them the instant gratification that comes with Fast Reply. It's disabled (as mentioned) so that posters will hopefully think more about their post before typing it. For those of you with 56k connections, I really can't say I have any pity for you. So you have to wait an extra 30-60 seconds for a page to load, big deal. The entire purpose is to force you to use that time to think before you post.

I've been here for almost... 3 months. More than that actually. And I haven't seen virtually ANY additions to the Ripped Worked forum... That's a good sign...

But hey, I'm just stating my opinion and I'm issueing a suggestion. I don't have any kind of power but my writing to try and convince you moderators and adminstrators to do anything.

Those two were banned a little bit after I signed up here. Trust me, it's good that they're gone.

VideoMann I remember, but I don't remember JMitch. Hmm, brain lacking. Anyway, it depends on the situation if I use Fast Reply or not. If somebody has a problem and the solution is fast, I use Fast Reply. If the post is extensive, I like to see the entire message, the Fast Reply bo is too small for me so I use the Fast Reply. And I agree with Myuu, with the new rules layed out, I don't think we will have a vast problem that we think there is going to be.

The thing that annoys me is the 45 second delay to post replies. I multitask and there are times that there are many things to reply to and so I think of them and then I have to wait 45 seconds after each reply to reply again. 45 seconds, woo hoo right? Well, I always like to get things done quickly. I know it is a security thing but it is how I get things done. I guess I am the only one that thinks this way and actually thinks it's that big of a deal.

#113385

i agree. it hinders my ability to help profusely. :) having to wait because there's no fast reply or for flood control doesn't help. i'd like to be able to reply to several threads one after the other.

#113396

Yada Yada Yada...

We've had a few disliked members here that is the past and shoudn't be in discussion.

About the Fast Reply. It is disabled in some forums because I do not see fit for it. If someone really wants to reply they can take the time and click the button and wait a min for a page to pop up.

Sorry to all the modem users its going to stay as is for now.

#113403

It's always good to see what the "Big Man" has to say... Although in this case, the Big Man proves himself to be a bit irracional.

How about a little explanation of "Why Not"? Or better yet, what would be the ideal case for you to enable Fast Reply?

*sigh* -.-

#113445

How about the "Final Say" its staying like that for now, do not go questioning everything it tends to lead to bad things. :banging: :moon:

#113460

I don't question everything. I just question what does NOT seem right OR fair.

It rather have someone say "I want things this way for no good reason, but since it's MY forum, I do as I please", instead of being all misterious and/or unclear about the real reasons of such actions. <_<

For you still only being with the site for a few months you have no idea what this site has gone through so be patient!
