so my friend wants to send me some "art" she has done for SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design). Anyway, obviously she works on a Mac and I have a PC. She has the files in everything from .jpg, .gif, .bmp, .psd, .pdf, etc....
What's the best way for her to send them to me? I have all the same programs, ie...photoshop, illustrator, ect but when she tried to send them to me late night they would not work. Any ideas?

If she's on OS X, I think that there is an option for CD burning to create PC compatible disks.
Joliet format? It's been a while since I burned a CD on a Mac.
I don't have a Mac handy, so I'm not sure where to make the setting.
Incidentally, my wife got her Master's Degree (in Illustration) at SCAD in Fall 2002.
What do you mean they didnt work, You coulnt open them, or she coulnt send you the files?
It has happened to me before. I've sent out JPG files using Mail on Mac OS X 10.3, and when the other person was checking their inbox, the image files wouldn't appear.
What you have to do to solve that, is set Mail to send "Windows Friendly Files".
This can be done easily when selecting the files you are going to attach to the message, and then, on that same window, mark the checkbox that reads "Send Windows Friendly Files".
You might want to try that. Hope it helps!
Have her zip them up to copy the recource fork to the file.
Will also keep the size down on large psds
she was just e-mailing my the raw files. I know that she just got a new powerbook and is using Panther. I'm not sure about the e-mail program though, I'll ask.
EDIT: Oh, and I couldn't open the file at all. She could mail it to me but it wouldn't open. It's weird though because when she tried to send a jpg the file on my end showed up as "Unknown.mime"

My bet is that she is not sending Windows Friendly Files.
Remember, tell her that when she attaches the files in Mail (Panther's Default Mail Client), there is a checkbox that reads "Send Windows Friendly Files". Make her simply mark that checkbox and you should get the files correctly.
add the file format at the end of the file, ie picture.jpg, or word.doc. usually works everytime
