[release] Panther Drive Labels

OK... For DesktopX users, the wait is over (even if you didn't know you were waiting). I have completed work on my Panther Drive Labels object. This object as faithfully as possible recreates the Panther Color Labels functionality. Here is a quick peek at the object.

pantherDriveLabels.jpg

Yes... that is a right click context menu :)

Features Include:

# 128x128px icon support

# Auto labeling based on drive volume name

# Switchable Drive Stats ( Total/Free GB )

# Color Labels

# Right-Click Context Menu

# Icon Focus Box

# Drive selection input box

# Duplicate function (clones all objects and positions them below the current icon)

# Delete icon

# Auto aligning labels/stats

This object REQUIRES DesktopX 2.09 or better. All subscribers to Object Desktop can get this now. Registered users of DesktopX 2.0 should be able to get v2.10 this week. Those of you who use pirated copies (shame on you) will either have to buy a copy or wait until some group releases a pirated version... GO BUY IT! It's worth the damn $19.95.

For everyone who does not have DX 2.09 or even desktopX for that matter, I have posted a preview video so you can see this object in action... DOWNLOAD THE VIDEO HERE

For everyone who wants to download this object, the direct link is HERE.

Or you can Visit my website and download it along with any other objects.

There, this object should satisfy those people who like me are tired of all the damn clocks and weather objects... come on people. DesktopX can do so much more.. get out there and develop for it.

Whoa!™

I just saw the preview video (although I won't be able to use the real thing)

Oh. Dear. God. :woot: :woot: :woot: :woot: :woot: :woot:

If it was all possible (although it isn't) I think I'd have your babies. Now I must get DX* and be very happy.

(* - Buy obviously. No warez endorsement for me! ;))

Edit: Curse my typing tonight. <_<

Thanks guys... I still need to do the folders and cd objects, but need to take a break for a day or two.. there is a LOT of code involved in these objects. Feeling a bit of brain fry.

No matter what I call the drive, the name always comes up in ALL CAPS on the Panther Label. Anyone else have this problem? Other than that one thing, this looks tottaly awesome! :who's your daddy:

This is nice, but I hope it gets integrated into IconX so it'd be available on any icon from the desktop.

Like the real thing, wot?!

Fantastic!

It would be nice, but I think the folks at Apple might have issues with stardock including this in their software

I have problems with this object. Adding one drive is fine. But when I try to duplicate it to add another drive (I have two drives) things start going wrong. At first desktopX was just becoming less responsive. Now it just freezes up desktopX. I'm using the latest version of DesktopX off of object desktop.

Also.... the labels that don't have shadows or the drive information's shadow isn't dark enough on a white background.

I like the drive information and labels though. :naughty:

Well.... if stardock included a different "skin" for it, it might be ok. Just look at Gnome, it has skinnable selection boxes in nautilus, in fact it also has item count\size as well. The only thing left is the labels.

But besides,Stardock also has spring folders and treeview programs in object desktop.

They did however say they are adding the item\size count into IconX already though, image thumbnails was just the beginning.

While the preview video is playing, put your mouse over it, it gets kinda fun. I feel like i'm right there, clickin and labelin away.

Brilliant work nowhereman - I'm lost for words :naughty:

#111740

nice work (Y) .

small questions... what is the new DesktopX like in terms of resources?

DX has been extemely good to my resources for the past several builds. I am verry happy with it. I have to admit though that with all the scripts I have running here, when you get a few icons duplicated it can add up, but it's still not bad.

I just wanted to mention, nowhwereman, that I really like your binary clock. I am using it right now.

#111859

Cool.. glad to see people are getting use from my stuff.. Thanks.
