Gawk, Spyware Infected Computer

Its driving me insane, my computer is going slower and slower, due to stupid spyware toolbars, ads, temperature, syncronized watches, cursors!!! I can't take it anymore! I've tried 3 spyware programs. All were shareware. It took them about 1 hour each to scan my entire computer, i got a list of more then 20 spyware infected files, i click clean, and it says

This feature is not available in the shareware version. Please Buy.

Its driving me insane! :blowup: :blowup: Is there any good freeware spyware program out there?

it detects all of them, and gives you *manual* instructions on how to remove them. Best site on earth.

Oh, and I recommend going into your internet options..

Security -> Custom Level ->

Download signed active X controls.. disable

download unsigned activeX conrols.. disable

then if you find you go to a website.. and something truely isn't work.. and you know it's a valid place.. turn it back on and reload the page. That way you don't have to worry about getting any more "mr. hankey"ty spyware.

Deleted, the site you gave me found 3 parasites. Cool site, but search and destroy found 96. :lol: Thanks ihartmacz and deleted.

damnit, you beat me to it. i use adaware and spybot, both are in their own league, they both find different things.

Suggestion: I would suggest not clicking ok, when it asks you to install those types of things, pretty obvious suggestion but you said you had them. only trust like microsoft, apple, quicktime, macromedia....etc (Trustworthy Companies)

You can go to Add remove programs, im guessing your on xp, and you can find all those toolbars in there.

90% of those programs don't create an add/remove entry. Kind of kills the whole point of it being "SPY"-ware. And 5% of the ones who do include an add/remove entry don't really do anything but make you think you got rid of it.

That's because S&D and AdAware and all those types like to make it look all big and scary, so if you had 1 piece of spyware, and it had 3,000 files they would report you having 3,000 infected files. When it's really all just from one program. Just the same, they count every registery entry it makes. So it makes it seem a lot worse then it is in reality.

I find the best thing to do though when in doubt is Run AdAware (full) then S&D (full). After that you're clean as a whistle.

i used to use ad-aware, but it was slow and clunky. i have since been using spybot and i really like it.

Ill have to second Dreamz perspective here, i was using Ad-Aware for a long time until Spybot came my way, a lot faster and it found spyware that ad-aware wouldn't in several occasions (what? that im what? paranoid? naaaaah, its just routine doulbe spyware weekend checks, thats all)

for you guys that thought ad-aware was slow, did you have the trial version or full? I have the full and it's very very fast. I use spybot as well though. The two programs are a great team.
